Hood: Outlaws and Legends is creeping toward its release date on May 10, and developer Sumo Digital has now released a gameplay trailer with official commentary on the process of a heist. Before today, fans of the upcoming PvPvE action game have been able to learn about the Ranger, Hunter, Brawler, and Mystic classes and even a little bit about Hood: Outlaws and Legends' year one DLC plans. Today's trailer jumps right into the action of a heist and shows the different tactical roles players can take on as they make the best use of their class builds.

First up in the trailer is Hood: Outlaws and Legends' Ranger class. Not all Ranger players will have the same strategy, but this Ranger takes the role of a distractor. He's been spotted by guards, and this means everyone on the heist map, including the enemy team, knows where he is. As the Ranger fends off approaching guards to allow his Brawler teammate to move the treasure chest to safety, he makes good use of his melee-based perks. Perk options allow players to tailor their class builds to a playstyle that works for them, which allows for balanced characters that aren't always forced to play healer or hide in the background.

The Brawler class in Hood: Outlaws and Legends might be a more obvious melee fighter, but perks can determine how he stacks up against player-controlled enemies. The Brawler in the trailer has been built as a tank, and his goal is to surprise a few members of the opposing team with an up-close assault. To succeed, the Brawler uses his Ultimate ability (each class has one) which gives him unlimited stamina for a short period of time. He also takes advantage of stealth at an opportune moment to score an instant kill execution on an enemy player.

Although the Mystic class seems to have the best healing capabilities in the game, the Mystic in the trailer doesn't do any healing and instead shows how useful stealthy play can be in Hood: Outlaws and Legends. With a fast movement perk, the Mystic systematically sneaks behind enemies and kills them silently, never revealing his position. He also uses silent lockpicking and distraction techniques to find the Sheriff, stealing the vault key right off his hip.

Finally, the Hunter class in Hood Outlaws and Legends uses her defensive tools to hold enemies at bay. Hunters have the quickest assassinations in the game, so they excel at quick-strike attacks and then melding back into the shadows. Her decision to defend is just one playstyle choice, and with the right perks, it seems any class can lean toward combat prowess, defensive play, or stealth and subterfuge.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends releases May 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
