Gamers may not want to play Honkai: Star Rail on Steam Deck, as it can lead to their accounts getting suspended. Developed by Genshin Impact creator HoYoverse, Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based RPG with gacha elements and an overall linear design.

It was officially released on April 26 with positive reviews, as the PC version of Honkai: Star Rail has a score of 81 on Metacritic. As of now, Honkai: Star Rail is only available on PC and mobile devices, with PS5 and PS4 versions currently in development. While it may be possible to also play Honkai: Star Rail on the Steam Deck, it looks like players’ accounts may get suspended for doing so.

Reddit user dexth77 has shared a message from the game stating that their account has been suspended until June 2, 2023. The reason given for this suspension is the use of third-party software, as dexth77 claims to have played Honkai: Star Rail on the Steam Deck. The note asks dexth77 to contact customer service for more details on this suspension, but it looks like they will be unable to play the game for this duration.

In one of the comments, dexth77 has detailed the steps they took to run Honkai: Star Rail on the Steam Deck, ultimately resulting in their account getting suspended. The player confirmed that they were using a third-party launcher to play on Valve’s handheld device, stating that a standard launcher would not have worked. Later on, dexth77 mentions that they are trying to justify the case, and it’ll be interesting to see if the development team reduces or revokes the suspension.

There might be a safe way to play Honkai: Star Rail on a Steam Deck without the risk of getting suspended, as one player recommends streaming the game with it running on PC. It may not be as good as native gameplay, but given that Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based game, connection issues will probably not play a huge in the overall experience.

It looks like many gamers in the comments section want to play Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact on a native handheld gaming device like the Switch and Steam Deck. Genshin Impact was officially announced for the Switch years ago, but HoYoverse is yet to release this version of the game. Of course, fans can play these games on mobile devices, but some users may prefer to play these titles on a dedicated handled gaming system instead.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.
