February 14, 2019, was 1000 days ago. This very simple fact probably matters little to many folks, even in the game industry. Several games have been revealed, released, and moved on from in this time period. Yet, for Hollow Knight: Silksong fans, this is a very important date compared to today’s, November 10, 2021. This is because Hollow Knight: Silksong was first revealed with its announcement trailer on February 14, 2019.

This obviously means, then, that it has officially been 1000 days since Hollow Knight: Silksong was first revealed. In this time, news has been scarce if fruitful, as there are many characters, bosses, features, and story elements about Hollow Knight: Silksong known to the public, but that overall news has been scarce.

Truth is, it’s not the worst case of a game hitting 1000 days with little news. That title belongs to The Elder Scrolls 6, which has received absolutely nothing substantial in the time since. Some believe Starfield teased the location for The Elder Scrolls 6, but even that is more speculative than well-reasoned.

Another game that hit notable benchmarks like these is Elden Ring, which went quite a while with no news. At one point, it had hit 700 days and certainly ballooned beyond that. Metroid Prime 4, at the same time, is over 800 days without a single mention by Nintendo. Of course, early reveals followed by long periods of silence aren’t really new in this industry.

For Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s worth mentioning that Team Cherry is the definition of Indie, developing and publishing the title with a team of 3 people. Such delays in information is inevitable with that in mind, and that’s not to mention that COVID-19 has had a big impact on the gaming industry. This applies to big, AAA developers and publishers, and that probably goes double for Team Cherry.

Hollow Knight: Silksong's Release Date is The News Fans Want

The only recent bit of news about Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release date, which is likely the big focus of many fans, came from a GeForce Now leak. According to it, it is set to release in February 2022. Beyond the questionability of the leak containing this information accurately (as some are said to be speculative, while others were clearly true, like God of War’s PC Port), that window may not come with any bit of delays or COVID-19 taken into account. Truth is, fans do not know. It won’t be 2021 at this point without any major surprises, but 2022 is at least possible (if not that early).

The best thing to do now is to wait on an update from Team Cherry. Hitting this benchmark is not indicative of any major worries, of course, but the sheer hype around Hollow Knight: Silksong at this marker indicates that many are willing to wait. Who knows, the next update could be at any time, and it’s bound to get the already fired-up fanbase even more ready to take on the role of Hornet.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently in development for PC and Switch.
