Types of Relics

Hollow Knight inventory

Throughout their travels, players can collect four types of relics. These collectibles are signaled to the player as small glowing orbs, similarly to other interactable items. While they are entirely optional and do not link to any specific achievements, players will find that there is a significant use for them.

The Wanderer’s Journals scattered around the map are always in the presence of a corpse. These journals contain the writings of the individuals they belonged to, but the language is old and only a true scholar can decipher the texts.

The most common of the relics are the Hallownest Seals, which are the official symbol of the kingdom of Hallownest. Players will notice as they explore Hallownest that the iconography used for the Seals can be found in the architecture, including elements of the Pale King and even the Monarch Wings.

The King’s Idol are small relics that the residents of Hallownest used to worship their monarch, as he was so rarely seen, but there are only a handful of them to be found. Even more rare are the Arcane Eggs that pre-date the kingdom of Hallownest and there are rumors that they possess a subtle power.

Selling Relics

Hollow Knight selling relics

Found in the City of Tears, players can meet an NPC known as Relic Seeker Lemm, a historian, and collector of antiques. His shop can be found to the left of the Fountain Square in the center of the city and up one floor using the elevator.

Due to his insatiable pursuit of knowledge, Lemm is always on the lookout for interesting objects to broaden his research and will share interesting insights into the history of Hallownest before its untimely downfall. He is fiercely protective of his collection and seemingly prefers the company of his relics than others, but he is willing to part with Geo if it means adding to his hoard.

Relics can be sold to Lemm for a set price, depending on the rarity of the type that players choose to sell, and they are not lost upon death (unlike Geo), which makes them a reliable source of income. This is especially helpful for players that may be short on Geo to spend with other merchants, such as the Nailsmith, who is also located in the City of Tears and not too far from Lemm’s shop.

Hollow Knight is available on PC, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
