Players will quickly find that the world of Hollow Knight is vast. Running from one place to another can take time, especially when revisiting areas that the player has already discovered. As many of the paths throughout Hallownest are interconnected, players will have great use of Cornifer’s maps to keep track of their whereabouts and to scout their routes before setting off to explore.

Players can use the Stagways to travel between stations in Hollow Knight, as well as setting a fast travel point with the Dream Gate after collecting enough Essence for the Seer after obtaining the Dream Nail. The third way that players can quickly reach different locations are the Tramways, but they are unavailable to use until players collect a Tram Pass.

Finding the Tram Pass

Hollow Knight Deepnest enemies

In the northern section of Deepnest, to the left of the uppermost bench through a large opening in the wall, players can find the Failed Tramway. This unfinished Tram system is the remnants of an abandoned project after the Weavers of Deepnest refused to follow the Pale King, and is now home to creatures that lurk in the darkness.

Carver Hatchers are flying enemies that do not initially directly attack the player and will instead attempt to create distance as they spit out Dirtcarvers, who crawl towards their targets or bury underground and ambush them. If the Carver Hatcher has spawned five Dirtcarvers, it will then begin to swoop down towards the player in an attempt to bite at them. It is recommended for players to take down the Carver Hatchers first so as not to become overwhelmed during battle.

Hollow Knight finding the Tram Pass

Continuing to the left along this path, players can find a Lifeblood Cocoon if they use the Mantis Claw to scale the wall upwards, as well as a path down to drop into what would have been one of the carts used in the tramway. To the far right inside the tram cart is a lever that must be hit to open a gate on the left.

Directly above in this next area is another lever that can be interacted with to open another gate, and players should continue moving to the left where three Carver Hatchers await them. After defeating them, players must enter the tram cart through the roof to find the Tram Pass glowing in the corner.

Using the Tram Pass

Hollow Knight using the Tram Pass

Obtaining the Tram Pass will allow players to use either of the tramways in Hallownest indefinitely. The closest Tram Station to players after collecting the Pass is in the southeast of Deepnest, close to Nosk’s arena. This is the southern tramway which travels between Deepnest, the Ancient Basin, and Kingdom’s Edge, while the northern tram line stops at the Forgotten Crossroads and the Resting Grounds.

Whichever station players decide to go to, the Tram Pass can be slotted into the door of the tram and players can rest at a bench inside and choose to travel to another destination.

Hollow Knight is available on PC, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
