Team Cherry, the studio currently hard at work on Hollow Knight: Silksong, has expanded its trademark for "Fearless Fox." There is no word so far on whether the trademark directly relates to Hollow Knight: Silksong, or if it is tied to an unrelated and unannounced property.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the upcoming sequel to Hollow Knight, which was one of the most successful indie titles to arrive during the last few years. Although Hollow Knight: Silksong skipped most major 2022 events and doesn't have a firm release window established, gamers looking forward to its release remain hopeful it will arrive sometime before the end of 2023. Nearly six years have already passed since its predecessor wowed audiences with its challenging but rewarding Metroidvania gameplay.

Team Cherry first filed a Class 9 trademark for "Fearless Fox" in 2019 in Australia, which placed it in a category related to computer game software, and more recently the developer has added expanded filings to cover toys, games, and related products and topics. That flurry of activity suggests Team Cherry remains committed to "Fearless Fox," and may even be preparing to officially announce something. With Hollow Knight: Silksong sitting pretty as one of the most anticipated games of 2023, it's easy to suppose the term somehow relates to that game. However, it's also possible Team Cherry is developing two games at once.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Hallownest Related to Pharloom

The original Hollow Knight released on PC in 2017, with a Switch version following in 2018. Team Cherry partnered with Fangamer to bring its indie darling to PlayStation 4 in 2019, but versions for other consoles were canceled. In comparison, Hollow Knight: Silksong is poised to make a much larger splash. Hollow Knight: Silksong is now a day one Xbox Game Pass game, which should allow an expanded audience to experience its madness and beauty right from the beginning.

Gamers eagerly looking forward to what's next for the Hollow Knight series are already excited by how Hollow Knight: Silksong is improving upon the original. For example, the inclusion of numerous NPCs and a talking protagonist suggests Team Cherry's follow-up may include a great deal more lore to expand its fantasy universe. Some of that lore might easily relate to the "Fearless Fox," which could be the name of a key antagonist or even a trustworthy companion. Until Team Cherry decides to share more details, all gamers can do is speculate and look forward to the day they get their hands on whatever the studio is creating.
