SteamDB charts revealed that Hogwarts Legacy has one of the highest concurrent player counts on Steam for a single-player game, bested only by Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring, although the latter does have a multiplayer component. Hogwarts Legacy will get extremely close to, or even surpass Elden Ring, as 872,429 gamers are playing it on Steam at the time of this writing. Elden Ring has a peak concurrent player count of 953,426, but Cyberpunk 2077’s record of 1,054,388 will probably not get beaten. A tweet from Benji-Sales lists the top 10 best-selling games on Steam, revealing that Hogwarts Legacy occupies the top four spots, with two for its standard and digital deluxe editions each. In a follow-up tweet, Benji-Sales mentions that Steam calculates pre-order and release SKUs separately, so two of these Hogwarts Legacy are from users who pre-ordered the game, with the other two noting gamers who bought it on release. Furthermore, Benji-Sales confirms that this is a revenue-based chart, so Hogwarts Legacy’s performance is even more impressive considering it’s above the Steam Deck which starts at $399.

The digital deluxe edition of Hogwarts Legacy being at the top of the list doesn’t come as a surprise given that users received 72 hours of early access in addition to cosmetic goods. It’ll be interesting to see how the top-sellers chart looks for the rest of the month, with Atomic Heart, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, and Destiny 2: Lightfall launching in February 2023. The rest of Steam’s top-sellers list includes Project Zomboid, Dead Space, Dying Light 2, and Destiny 2: Lightfall, with CS: GO Prime Status Upgrade taking the last spot.
