In the variety of Harry Potter games that players have already experienced, Avalanche Software's Hogwarts Legacy definitely stands out. With its impressive attention to detail and the way it convincingly brings the Wizarding World to life, Hogwarts Legacy has managed to wow fans and rake in some serious cash at the same time. Both of these outcomes make a sequel feel inevitable, but that doesn't mean gamers won't want to see some changes if Hogwarts Legacy does get a follow-up title.

Fans of the IP had high expectations when it came to Hogwarts Legacy, and there were many parts of the school experience they were hoping to encounter. For the most part, the game delivered, letting gamers get hands-on with the iconic castle and its environments and letting them visit some of the series' most beloved locations as well. However, many players would agree that a Hogwarts experience isn't complete without Quidditch, the popular broom-based sport that is an important part of Harry's own time at the school. While this is sadly missing from Hogwarts Legacy, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions could mean that it makes an appearance in a sequel.

Quidditch Champions Trophy

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise have had their hands full exploring the legendary School of Witchcraft and Wizardry ever since Hogwarts Legacy launched earlier this year. However, there's more magical content on the way with Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions in the works. While the upcoming multiplayer title doesn't yet have a release date, footage has recently leaked that claims to show off the sports game in action. This might not be representative of the final product, but it did show off some of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions' features.

When Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was announced, it became clear why Quidditch wasn't a playable part of Hogwarts Legacy, even if many players had hoped it would be. With brooms already in Hogwarts Legacy, adding the flight-based sport seemed like a no-brainer. But if Warner Bros. Games already had Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, it makes sense that it would want to keep Quidditch separate and save it for the standalone title. Although Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions has a very distinctive look and feel from Hogwarts Legacy, a sequel to the latter may be more closely linked to Unbroken Studios' game than fans might think.

Quidditch In A Hogwarts Legacy Sequel

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is not related to Hogwarts Legacy, besides the obvious links to the Wizarding World, but how the Quidditch-focused game does once it's finally released could have a big impact on a sequel to Avalanche Software's hit title. Fans of the franchise have been wanting a new Quidditch game for years, and there's already a lot of excitement for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. However, there's pressure too, especially considering the success of recent Harry Potter releases like Hogwarts Legacy and the positive reception its own broom flight mechanics have received. If Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions can rise to the challenge and impress fans with its gameplay, Quidditch seems like a surefire addition to a Hogwarts Legacy sequel.

Players have lots to do in the castle already in Hogwarts Legacy, from customizing the Room of Requirement, making friends with other students, attending lessons to sharpen their skills, and uncovering the secrets of the school, but the absence of Quidditch is still felt. A follow-up to Hogwarts Legacy will be looking at things it can add to enhance the experience, even if the sequel is still set at the same school and includes the same basic building blocks. Getting Quidditch in the mix could be an excellent mini-game to distract from lessons, or it could be a part of the plot and the protagonist's character development. Either way, if Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions can create a fun formula, the Hogwarts Legacy series could easily adopt it.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. It will be released on the Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2023.
