The Portkey Games publishing label has so far released mobile Harry Potter games, and so fans of the franchise have been hungry for a proper console game release. Hogwarts Legacy is set to be the first major console Harry Potter video game since the start of the Portkey Games initiative, with it originally set to launch in 2021. Unfortunately, Hogwarts Legacy was delayed, pushing the game's release date back from 2021 to an undetermined point in 2022. And while fans still don't know exactly when in 2022 the game will launch, the wait may not be quite as long as expected.

As pointed out by James Sigfield, some Warner Bros. Interactive job listings suggest that the company may be gearing up for a Hogwarts Legacy marketing campaign. This marketing campaign would reveal new information about the game, including possibly a release date. And if Hogwarts Legacy is truly looking to ramp up its marketing efforts in the coming months, it could be a sign that the release date will be early in 2022 as opposed to later in the year.

Since the original Hogwarts Legacy release window was 2021, it wouldn't be all that surprising if the game was ready within the first half of 2022. However, there's been virtually no gameplay footage shown and very little is known about it in an official capacity, so fans shouldn't get their hopes up. Still, this is an encouraging sign that the Hogwarts Legacy release date delay isn't quite as big as previously believed.

As for when Warner Bros. may show more of Hogwarts Legacy, that remains to be seen. Reports indicated that Warner Bros. had an E3 presentation planned for last year where it was going to showcase Hogwarts Legacy, but the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to that. Maybe Warner Bros. will be looking to make a splash at this year's E3 event, and if so, Hogwarts Legacy seems like the perfect game it can use to do so.

Little is known about this year's E3 event, except that E3 2021 will be all-digital. Presumably, it will feature digital presentations from various video game companies, and if so, Warner Bros. Interactive could very well be one of those companies. Again, nothing has been confirmed yet, so those looking forward to Hogwarts Legacy and E3 2021 for further information.

As it stands, Hogwarts Legacy hype seems pretty high, as it's one of the first triple-A Harry Potter video games ever produced. Whether or not it is able to live up to fans' lofty expectations remains to be seen, but regardless 2022 should be a big year for Harry Potter fans.

Hogwarts Legacy is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
