There are still a lot of unknowns about Hogwarts Legacy, but that hasn't stopped fans from picking apart the trailer and any other information they can find about the game. There's also been a fair bit of discussion about potential features, wishlists, and the like among fans on the game's subreddit. These topics broach a wide range of subjects, but recently Redditor abKromi brought up the potential for a morality system. Outside of just discussing whether or not there will be a morality system in the game, there was also a poll that fans could vote on to share whether they would prefer to play a good wizard or a dark wizard.

Surprisingly, a large number of Hogwarts Legacy fans said they would want to play as a dark wizard, so it will be interesting to see if this potential really is in the game. At the moment, all fans have to go off of is the reveal trailer from last year and a few comments from developers here and there, so it's hard to tell.

At the time of writing, the poll has about 1,000 votes from other Redditors. This is a relatively small sample size to the number of players that will be getting the game, so players shouldn't necessarily take this information as a representation of the entire community. Still, whereas around 600 of the voters said they would still play as good wizards, almost 400 instead say they would play as a dark wizard given the choice. Good wizards are still winning out on this poll, but the dark wizards aren't too far behind in this case.

The trailer for Hogwarts Legacy hints that there could potentially be a morality system in the game, but it never explicitly states this. There's a lot of talk about choices and how those decisions will affect the world around them. Whether or not this means that players will be able to become fully realized dark wizards is unclear, but apparently a decent portion of the community would enjoy that. Going into the comments reveals something else interesting as well. Many of those Redditors that voted they would play as good wizards claim that they would play through the game again as a dark wizard if the option was there.

With Hogwarts Legacy slated for sometime in 2022, fans are hopeful that more information will come soon. Another trailer, a developer Q&A, or even just a concrete release date reveal would go a long way in tiding fans over. If this does happen, perhaps fans will get to learn more about the morality system in the game soon.

Hogwarts Legacy releases in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
