Whether people are exploring the main story, completing side quests, or tackling open-world challenges, Hogwarts Legacy offers a wealth of activities to enjoy. One such challenge involves solving a series of Merlin Trials. By completing these Trials, players can expand their gear inventory and earn valuable rewards.

This adventure is not only rewarding but also tests the knowledge and intelligence of every Hogwarts Legacy player. This guide will focus on locating and solving each Merlin Trial in the North Hogwarts Region so that players can follow along and complete these challenges with ease.

All North Hogwarts Region Merlin Trials In Hogwarts Legacy

In Hogwarts Legacy, the North Hogwarts Region features five distinct Merlin Trials, which can be tackled in any order.

The five Merlin Trials are:

1. Orbs Pillars Puzzle
2. Brazier Puzzle
3. Broken Statue Puzzle
4. Stone Cube Puzzle
5. Firefly Puzzle

Merlin Trial #1 - Orbs Pillars Puzzle

One of the Merlin Trials in the North Hogwarts Region can be found to the west of the Forbidden Forest Waypoint in Hogwarts Legacy. This initial challenge involves a straightforward puzzle that requires players to destroy nine orbs.

Typically, these orbs are located near one another and can be easily spotted, especially when casting the Revelio spell. To destroy them, simply cast Confringo or Bombarda.

Merlin Trial #2 - Brazier Puzzle

To the northeast of Korrow Ruins Floo Flame in the North Hogwarts Region, players can discover a Merlin Trial. Once activated, three brazier pillars will appear, indicating the start of the challenge.

To complete this Merlin Trial, players must cast Confringo on all three pillars within the assigned time. To avoid running out of time, it’s better to start with the tallest pillar and work their way down to the shortest one.

Merlin Trial #3 - Broken Statue Puzzle

This Merlin Trial is located to the southwest of the Jackdaw's Tomb Waypoint and can be reached by flying from the Floo Flame Waypoint in the Forbidden Forest. When players activate the Trial, a statue will break, indicating that it must be repaired to solve the puzzle.

There are four broken statues scattered around the Merlin Trial location. Similar to most Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy, players can cast Revelio to locate the broken statues around the area and cast Reparo to repair them.

Merlin Trial #4 - Stone Cube Puzzle

This Merlin Trial is west of the Jackdaw's Tomb Floo Flame, next to a lake with three symbol cubes. Players must match the symbols on the top and bottom cubes by using Flipendo to change the top cube's position.

First Cube Puzzle Solution

1. Cast Flipendo from the first symbol’s side.
2. Move to the left side and cast the same spell twice.

Second Cube Puzzle Solution

1. Stand in front of the first symbol and cast Flipendo.
2. Move to the second symbol and cast the spell again.

Third Cube Puzzle Solution

1. Find the first symbol on top and cast Flipendo.
2. Move to the right side and cast the spell on the second symbol to solve the puzzle.

Merlin Trial #5 - Firefly Puzzle

The final Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Legacy is located in the far east of the North Hogwarts region. Players will immediately notice three moonstone pillars situated next to the Trial.

To solve this puzzle, find the fireflies and attract them to the Wand using Lumos, a spell that lights up the wand and turns it into a flashlight. Each of the moonstone pillars has a swarm of fireflies behind it. Once players have successfully lured all three swarms of fireflies to the three moonstone pillars, the Merlin Trial is complete.
