A newly-released mod for Hogwarts Legacy has added a Shrek broomstick into the game. The mod is among the first for Avalanche Software's new title, with many more surely to come for Hogwarts Legacy.

Although Hogwarts Legacy is still a brand-new title, the modding community has wasted no time in getting to work on the game. While many mods for other games such as Skyrim are usually made to improve the gameplay, there is still plenty of room for funny mods, too. One Skyrim modder even replaced the game's courier with an Alfiq cat. This Shrek mod definitely shows off the fun side of the Hogwarts Legacy community.

Images from the mod are truly bizarre, showing off the player riding around on Shrek's back, using him to fly around the world of Hogwarts Legacy as if he were a broomstick. The mod replaces the Aeromancer Broom in-game, instead featuring Shrek in a t-pose. The expression on Shrek's face is completely blank, which only adds to the strange nature of the mod. Over the years, Shrek has become something of a meme within the gaming community. Using him to replace other characters has become commonplace, with many games having their own version of a Shrek mod. One mod even adds Shrek to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with terrifying results. It's a trend that seems to have no end in sight. In-game, the Hogwarts Legacy Shrek broom mod doesn't have much use in gameplay - it is purely for entertainment purposes. Any benefits are restricted to any statistical boost the Aeromancer Broom would usually give players anyway.

Even though the game just came out, there are already mods for Hogwarts Legacy that do improve the gameplay for certain players. One player even released a mod adding arachnophobia mode to Hogwarts Legacy, which replaces the game's spiders with boxes. It shows that there's definitely a place for both types of mod, with not every mod needing to be completely serious.

Although Hogwarts Legacy is finally available to players, the route to get to release was bumpy for Avalanche Software. The company constantly had to contend with J.K. Rowling's harmful comments and mocking of the transgender community, which led to a boycott of the title from some. With the release finally out of the way, the studio will look to focus on the post-launch support of Hogwarts Legacy. Early sales figures look strong for the game, which could potentially result in DLC for Hogwarts Legacy at some point down the line.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4 and the Switch version launching on July 25.
