A Hogwarts Legacy fan has discovered a useful trick of using the Lumos spell to view previously hidden field guide pages in the action role-playing game. For those unfamiliar, Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive game published by Warner Bros. Interactive and released in 2023. With this new trick, players can now easily locate field pages throughout the Hogwarts Legacy map.
In Hogwarts Legacy, players can create their own characters and assume the role of student witches or wizards attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The field guide is a useful resource in the game that provides information on the various creatures and magical beings that players encounter throughout their journey. By using the Lumos spell, players can easily read and access the information in the field guide without having to struggle in poorly lit areas.
A Reddit user by the name of InfernalDeath recently shared a post featuring a screenshot from Hogwarts Legacy with the caption, “TIL that you can see field guide pages using Lumos.” The image shows InfernalDeath's character casting the Lumos spell within the Hogwarts castle, with a shadowed outline of a field guide page visible in front of them. According to the post, using the Lumos spell resulted in the unusual phenomenon, allowing InfernalDeath's character to view the page with greater clarity.
In the game, players have the ability to cast a wide range of spells, including essential transfiguration spells, defensive spells, and even unforgivable curses. These spells include well-known incantations such as Stupefy, which can stun enemies, and newer spells like Confringo, which can set enemies on fire. As players advance through the game's storyline, they will have the opportunity in Hogwarts Legacy to unlock additional spells, both offensive and defensive. One such spell is Lumos, which can normally be used to illuminate dark areas or solve puzzles that require extra light.
Since the release of the game, players have taken to various social media platforms to share reports of experiencing bugs or glitches in Hogwarts Legacy. In response to a comment on their own post, InfernalDeath suggested that their own experience might have been due to a bug or glitch in the game as well. They also shared that they have encountered other issues since the last patch, although they didn’t disclose any details.
InfernalDeath added that this isn’t the only field guide they have had ability to view throughout the game. According to the comments, the user has been able to use the Lumos spell to view various other field guide pages that they have not yet collected in other areas of the castle. As far as the post and comments show, the alleged glitch hasn’t caused any major issues in the game.
Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming May 5 and a Switch version dropping July 25.
