Learning new spells is arguably the most exciting feature of Hogwarts Legacy. Discovering new charms and hexes and then using them in battles to defeat enemies or duel alongside friends is definitely an exhilarating experience.
Since the protagonist is a student in their 5th year at Hogwarts, every Professor has agreed to give extra assignments and teach players new spells to make up for the previous years. Professor Sharp is an Ex-Auror who teaches Potions in Hogwarts Legacy. After completing a certain main quest, he asks that players complete an assignment to learn Depulso.
How To Learn Depulso In Hogwarts Legacy
To learn Depulso, players must complete Jackdaw’s Rest main quest in Hogwarts Legacy to trigger Professor Sharp’s first assignment, which is:
- Acquire and use a Focus Potion.
- Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potions, and use them simultaneously.
All three potions can be purchased from J. Pippin’s Potions store in Hogsmeade. The Focus potion costs 500 Galleons while both Maxima and Edurus potions cost 300 Galleons.
That’s literally all that players need to do, head to Hogsmeade, buy the three potions, and drink them. It’s possible to either consume all three of them and then go to Potion class, or wait until the protagonist is in the heat of the battle and use them as buffs.
Additionally, if players wish to brew the potion themselves, the recipes can be found at J. Pippin’s Potions store, but do note that they are very expensive as the Focus Potion recipe is 1,200 Galleons.
Upon using all three potions, return to Professor Sharp and attend the morning class. After that, the Ex-Auror will teach players the Depulso spell in Hogwarts Legacy, which is a banishment charm that pushes enemies away.
How To Brew The Required Potions
Each potion grants players a time-limited buff that disappears after a while. In addition, all three potions will require specific ingredients in Hogwarts Legacy.

Although buying the recipe and brewing the potions is not necessary and requires more effort, it will certainly help players in the long run as these potions will definitely be needed later to boost their defense and spell damage against tougher opponents in Hogwarts Legacy.
