With its creative spells, fantastical atmosphere, and a world filled with dangerous and wondrous creatures, the Harry Potter franchise is known and loved around the world. The upcoming release of the open-world title Hogwarts Legacy is set to bring new life to the franchise, assuming it can avoid being dragged down by the increasingly controversial behavior of series creator J.K. Rowling. One leaker believes that Hogwarts Legacy will be coming out even sooner than expected, which may bode well for the game.

Hogwarts Legacy isn't the first time the Harry Potter franchise has attempted to include a big-budget game, but it has the potential to be the most successful. The action-RPG promises to allow players to take on the role of a fifth-year student attending Hogwarts in the 1800s, long before Harry Potter and Newt Scamander had their adventures. It is allegedly not to be considered a canonical installment in the franchise.

Industry leaker AccountNGT shared a screenshot on Twitter that implies Avalanche Software, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, is currently looking for a Localization Producer. Localization is usually a later step in the development process and the studio previously promised news about Hogwarts Legacy early this coming year. This may imply that the game is closer to release than gamers may have thought. Apparently, the position will involve localizing the game's text, voice-overs, graphics, and video.

AccountNGT went on to note in follow-up tweets that Sumo Digital, which has studios involved in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, has really helped with the project. It seems that Sumo Digital's support was so important that Hogwarts Legacy appears to be ahead of schedule. The leaker stated that they had received a date from another insider concerning the eventual release of the game, not just another trailer. However, they declined to share this date with the internet.

As of writing, it appears that other fans are excited to see Hogwarts Legacy sooner rather than later. One user began discussing what form the game's multiplayer could take, while a second user guessed that the game could be in the final stages of development right now. If development is so far along, gamers may be inclined to wonder why so little has been heard about the title for a while. The answer may have something to do with the ongoing controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling and the recent accusations of transphobia, antisemitism, and other forms of harassment.

Hogwarts Legacy releases in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
