Between flying Hippogriffs and charging Graphorns, there are plenty of ways to get around in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite this, broom flight is likely going to be the most common way that players traverse the map as they look for or move between Floo Flame fast travel points. Though flying on a broom is fast, players are limited in how long they can maintain maximum speed by their boost gauge, the yellow bar that gradually depletes as players use the boost function while flying. For those wanting to get around even faster, there's actually a trick that effectively gives the player unlimited boost while riding on their brooms.

Players won't be able to purchase a broom until they attend their first Flying class, something that happens relatively early on in the game. After flying around Hogwarts with Everett, they can head to Hogsmeade and visit Spintwitches Sporting Needs to purchase a broom and start flying. This is much faster than walking, and even after unlocking other mounts, it will likely remain the player's primary means of travel in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Boost on the Broom in Hogwarts Legacy

When flying on the broom in Hogwarts Legacy, players hold R2 (RT on Xbox and LShift on PC) to fly forward quickly. In order to go faster, they'll need to use some of their boost gauge by pressing and holding L2 (LT on Xbox and Left Click on PC). This will cause the boost gauge in the bottom right-hand corner to drain but give the player an impressive burst of speed. It won't take long before the player's boost gauge is completely gone and they are forced to move with just R2 while the boost gauge recovers.

In order to expedite air travel with the broom, players can use this trick to get unlimited boost as they fly around the Scottish Highlands. If the player flies close enough to the ground, they will notice that their boost gauge will begin to glow and actually start to increase even while they are using boost. Players can use this to their advantage by simply flying close to the ground in order to maintain boost indefinitely.

This may not be quite as scenic as soaring through the air alongside Hippogriffs and owls while overlooking Hogwarts Legacy's impressive open world, but it is certainly faster. Players can even alternate between flying high for the views and dropping down near the ground any time their boost gauge gets low and needs a refill.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S; the Nintendo Switch version is arriving on July 25, 2023.
