As one of the more well-known Magical Beasts in the Harry Potter universe, it's no surprise that Hogwarts Legacy allows players to find and rescue Hippogriffs. Players wanting to do this for themselves will first need to find Hippogriffs out in the wild, and this will require going quite a ways away from Hogwarts school grounds. Before trying to rescue a Hippogriff, players should make sure they have completed "The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom" for Deek, as this will grant them the ability to use the Nab-sack to rescue Magical Beasts. Then it's just a matter of finding the majestic creatures.

Though players are no doubt familiar with the Hippogriff, the Field Guide describes this majestic creature as one that "commands the respect of anyone who dares to approach it." Hogwarts Legacy shows that off firsthand when players meet Poppy Sweeting's Hippogriff companion, Highwing. With the front half of an eagle and the back half of a horse, rescuing this fierce beast can be challenging.

Where to Find Hippogriff Dens

To find any den, simply comb the world map for a symbol that looks like a Beast's paw and hover over it to find what kind of Magical Beast lives there. Finding a Hippogriff Den like this could be challenging though, as they tend to be in higher-level areas.

There are five Hippogriff Dens on the world map in Hogwarts Legacy, each containing two Hippogriffs. The closest one to Hogwarts is directly north located in the Forbidden Forest. There is also one to the southwest of Hogwarts in the Feldcroft Region, one on the southeast side of Hogwarts Valley, and two to the far south near Poidsear Coast and Manor Cape.

Rescuing Hippogriffs and Getting Hippogriff Feathers

Hippogriffs are definitely one of the hardest Magical Beasts to rescue in Hogwarts Legacy. These creatures can run fast, fly if they so choose, and require an impressive five button presses in order to rescue them. Without the use of Levioso or Arresto Momentum, this is almost impossible to do. Players can also rescue a shiny Hippogriff, denoted by the star next to the gender marker, which are black in color. Brushing and feeding a Hippogriff rewards players with three Hippogriff feathers.

Although it may seem counterintuitive, Hippogriffs sell for 120 Galleons at the Brood and Peck, the same price that a Puffskein would go for there. If players just want to clear out their inventory quickly, they can always release extra Hippogriffs back out to the wild. If players choose to let Hippogriffs out in the Vivarium, they should consider using the Toy Chest Spellcraft to conjure up a Dark Wizard Dummy, the favorite toy of both the Hippogriff and Hogwarts Legacy's Graphorn Magical Beast.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4, and the Nintendo Switch version arrives on July 25, 2023.
