The rise of digital media has seen fewer video game Collector's Editions than the past, but the big games still have their extravagant CEs for the most diehard fans to purchase. The upcoming Hogwarts Legacy is easily one of the most-anticipated games in the pipeline, and so it should come as no surprise that it will have a Collector's Edition of its own. Warner Bros. Interactive recently pulled the curtain back on the Hogwarts Legacy Collector's Edition, revealing everything it comes with, as well as its hefty $299 price point.

Despite the Hogwarts Legacy Collector's Edition being so expensive, it sold out pretty much instantly after going up for pre-order, and it's unclear if there will be more opportunities to buy one between now and the game's February launch. Scalpers have taken advantage of the situation by posting the Hogwarts Legacy Collector's Edition online at ridiculous prices on sites like eBay, often hovering around the $600 range. This means some Harry Potter fans will be paying double the cost of the Collector's Edition if they missed out on the initial wave of pre-orders.

In terms of actual gameplay, the good news is that most of the Hogwarts Legacy Collector's Edition in-game content can be snagged by pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game as well. This includes the Dark Arts Pack, which comes with a thestral mount, exclusive cosmetics, and the Dark Arts Battle Arena. The 72-hour early access period is also available to both those that get the Collector's Edition of the game and those that pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The main draw of the Hogwarts Legacy Collector's Edition are the physical items. The Collector's Edition comes with a steel case and actual copy of the game (in contrast to many other Collector's Editions that come with a case but have a digital code instead of a disc), a life-size floating wand with book base, and a Collector's Edition box. Whether all that is worth $300, let alone $600, is dependent on how hyped one is for Hogwarts Legacy, but it's clear by the sold out pre-orders that many Harry Potter fans are willing to pay a premium to get items like this.

Assuming there are any Collector's Editions to purchase in-store, they will be available on February 7, three days before the base game launches on February 10. This applies to all versions of Hogwarts Legacy, minus the Switch port. The Hogwarts Legacy Switch version will have a different release date than its PC, PlayStation, and Xbox counterparts, though a specific date has yet to be announced at the time of this writing.

Hogwarts Legacy launches February 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with a Nintendo Switch version also in development.
