Hogwarts Legacy players will engage in a lot of combat while exploring the different areas surrounding Hogwarts castle. The thing is, players will end up fighting against similar groups of enemies, and one of these types of enemies are spiders --small ones and huge ones like the Acromantula and Matriarch.

When fighting these spiders, players might get some Dueling Feats, which are the challenges that appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen. These are optional, so the player doesn't have to do them unless they really want to, but they offer some XP towards leveling up and some cosmetic items that can be redeemed in the Challenges section of the main menu.

Updated on May 2, 2023: Now that Hogwarts Legacy is arriving on other platforms besides PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, there are a bunch of new students about to enroll at the Wizarding School for the first time. For players trying to complete the dueling feat involving burying a spider's head into the ground, this guide has all the info they need.

How to Bury a Spiders Head in the Ground in Hogwarts Legacy

To get right into it, Hogwarts Legacy players will eventually see Dueling Feats that require them to bury a spider's head into the ground. The process of doing it for the Acromantula and the Matriarch is the same, so this guide will cover that.

We have a video embedded down below that shows how to exactly complete the Dueling Feat, but essentially, players will need to wait until the spider performs its unblockable attack. Players will know it's about to attack because a red icon will appear on their character. These can be avoided by dodging, but, to bury the spider, players must cast Descendo at the exact moment the attack is about to land. The spider will lift its front legs, and that's the time players will want to cast the Hogwarts Legacy spell.

Descendo can be learned by going through the motions of the main story and completing Professor Onai's first assignment. The spell deals no direct damage, but it does slam objects and enemies into the ground to deal some impact damage. Airborne enemies will take even greater damage upon hitting the ground.

Rewards for Completing Duelling Feats

After completing Dueling Feats, Hogwarts Legacy players can check out the Challenges section of the menu to redeem some cosmetic items. Once 42 Dueling Feats are completed, all rewards will be earned:

  • Officer's Uniform
  • Officer's Hat
  • Halloween Pumpkin Mask
  • Autumn Festival Coat
  • Demiguise Mask

Once a battle begins and a Dueling Feat appears at the bottom of the screen, players should read them and make sure to equip the proper spells to complete them accordingly. Make sure not to defeat the enemies super quickly because you might need them alive to complete the challenge(s).

Hogwarts Legacy is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. PS4 and Xbox One versions are coming on May 5, 2023, and the Switch version arrives in late July.
