Hogwarts Legacy achievement and trophy statistics have revealed that the most popular house in the game is Slytherin. Just like the characters in the Harry Potter books and movies, Hogwarts Legacy players are sorted into one of four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. This occurs fairly early in the Hogwarts Legacy game, during the ceremony with the Sorting Hat.

After asking some questions, the Sorting Hat picks a house for Hogwarts Legacy players to be sorted into. Players don't have to go with the house that the Sorting Hat has picked, however. They can manually choose any of the four houses to be sorted into instead. It's unclear how many Hogwarts Legacy players are going with what the Sorting Hat picks for them and how many are making their own choice, but regardless, there is a clear front-runner as to which house is the most popular.

While the proper Hogwarts Legacy release date just came to pass, the game has been available in early access since February 7. And in that time, it's safe to say millions of people have checked out Hogwarts Legacy across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, resulting in plenty of achievement/trophy data about how people are playing the game. Hogwarts Legacy has an achievement/trophy for reaching the Map Chamber with a student from each house, and it seems most players have accomplished this feat with Slytherin so far. On Steam, 15.6% of players have unlocked the "Toast of the Town" achievement for starting the game as a Slytherin, while 12.27% of Xbox players have the same achievement. Meanwhile, 13.36% of PlayStation gamers have the Slytherin trophy at the time of this writing.

It's entirely possible that these statistics will change dramatically in the days and weeks ahead. After all, Hogwarts Legacy just had its proper release date, so many more players will be jumping into the open world Harry Potter game soon, which could result in a different Hogwarts house pulling ahead.

Interestingly enough, it seems the least popular house in Hogwarts Legacy right now is Hufflepuff, trailing well behind Slytherin, Gryffindor (which is the second-most popular house), and Ravenclaw. However, it seems safe to say that a lot more players are going to start choosing Hufflepuff now that it's been confirmed to have an exclusive quest that lets players visit Azkaban and see the Patronus charm in action.

Any completionists wanting to unlock all the achievements/trophies in Hogwarts Legacy will have to start a character with all four houses eventually, but in the meantime, it's interesting to see Slytherin being the first pick for most players.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4 and a Switch release dropping July 25.
