New footage showcasing gameplay for Hogwarts Legacy has shown fans how the iconic spell Accio will be used within the game. Within Hogwarts Legacy, the spell will be usable on both inanimate objects and, perhaps surprisingly, on in-game characters.Within Harry Potter, Accio is a Summoning Charm typically used by the caster to retrieve objects from afar, being able to summon most objects so long as they are not living. However, this rule can be circumvented by summoning things attached to a living being, such as their clothing. Accio is perhaps famously used within the Tri-Wizard Tournament of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where it is most notably used by Harry to retrieve the Golden Egg and Triwizard Cup. As the release date for Hogwarts Legacy grows closer, gameplay footage confirming Accio's place in the game has been uploaded to the game's official Twitter page.RELATED: Hogwarts Legacy Reveals Healing Potion IngredientsAs seen in the trailer, Accio will, perhaps unsurprisingly, be the go-to spell for those looking to summon or move an object from afar. As seen in the brief trailer, Accio will be usable to retrieve objects, interact with aspects of puzzles, such as levers, and to throw enemies around during combat situations. It is possible that the new Charms Professor introduced in Hogwarts Legacy will be responsible for teaching students the spell, which has been a staple of Harry Potter games for over a decade and remains one of the most flexible of all charms found throughout the Wizarding World.

While each spell present within the game, such as the Incendio Spell recently seen in Hogwarts Legacy gameplay, will have its uses, Accio will likely not only be necessary for many puzzles found throughout the game, but will also serve as a great quality-of-life feature to help speed up otherwise tedious tasks through the summoning of items and characters. As seen in the final scene of the trailer, it also seems to have some use within combat situations, though this will likely pale in comparison to other usable spells in the game, such as the three unforgivable curses.

With the release of the game approaching and many a lengthy Hogwarts Legacy showcase being posted to the official Twitter account of the game, the title seems to only be expanding in both scale and scope. Thankfully, avid fans of the Harry Potter franchise won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on a copy of their own.

Hogwarts Legacy launches on February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, April 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
