The Harry Potter film series recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and fans around the world were treated to an exciting reunion special that featured the popular cast of Harry Potter actors. With the hype about the film series at a current high, many fans are likely waiting for any official news about the upcoming title, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy. With many rumors and leaks populating the online space, a top executive from WarnerMedia recently laid them to rest through social media, sharing that the action-RPG is still sticking to its 2022 release date.
Hogwarts Legacy initially drew in a lot of fan excitement when it was first revealed during a PlayStation 5 event back in 2020. Though the title's original release date was set for 2021, Hogwarts Legacy got hit with major delays, resulting in the launch being moved to 2022. The development team stated that more time was needed to make sure the game met fan expectations of an in-game version of the Wizarding World. However, since then, no official date of the release was shared, and up to now, fans are still kept in the dark about when the game will be out in the market this 2022.
On Twitter, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar seemed to have every intent to lay fan worries to rest about rumors that Hogwarts Legacy is being delayed to 2023. Sharing the financial results and performance of WarnerMedia for 2021, Kilar talked about the company's mission of focusing on story, and its strategy to go global and direct to its customers. In his 10th Twitter post, he shares that this mission and strategy can also be seen in their drive to launch anticipated games in 2022, wherein he posted photos of Hogwarts Legacy and Gotham Knights.
Though no new information about a specific release date was revealed in Kilar's posts, this does provide fans with some assurance that development of Hogwarts Legacy is progressing, and indicates that the 2022 launch period will be retained. This will likely please Harry Potter fans who have been waiting a long time to finally experience an open-world, action role-playing version of their favorite magical universe.
Until Warner Bros. Interactive provides fans with official news about the Hogwarts Legacy launch, fans will just have to keep their ears to the ground for any new updates. Hopefully the marketing team will start ramping up on news and trailers before the game actually launches this 2022.
