Crossovers are nothing new in the sphere of video game fan art. Gamers often create impressive works of art that imagine what it would look like if two popular franchises were blended together. Recently, one passionate fan came up with an interesting crossover between the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Pokemon franchise.

In a post on Reddit, a user by the name of ChuggernautChug recently posted a picture based on the Pokemon series. However, this fan art stood out for one striking reason; they had used various Pokemon to reimagine the logos of the teams in the NHL. Impressively, they managed to come up with unique Pokemon redesigns for each of the 32 teams in the league.

While the NHL and the Pokemon franchise might seem like two things that would not go together, that did not stop ChuggernautChug from making incredible Pokemon-themed logos for each team. Some of the pocket monsters featured in the picture included Gengar representing the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ursaluna for the Minnesota Wild, and Tentacruel for the Seattle Kraken, just to name a few. In addition to the different Pokemon on display, the logo for the NHL had been redesigned to resemble a Poke Ball.

In addition to showing off the Pokemon artwork in a picture on Reddit, ChuggernautChug revealed the origin of the project. According to the Reddit user, they had been working on the various Pokemon-themed designs for nearly a year. They noted that the artwork was part of a project they had done for a fantasy league they were involved in.

Unsurprisingly, both members of the Pokemon community and NHL fans on Reddit have taken notice of these reimagined logos for professional hockey teams. In the few hours since ChuggernautChug posted the artwork, a number of gamers have already commented on the designs. Among the comments, many were impressed with how the artist was able to seamlessly blend the team logos with that of numerous Pokemon. For instance, one gamer liked the inclusion of the Kyogre design for the Vancouver Canucks, noting that the team even wore similar colors to the pocket monster in the past.

It is often exciting to see what artwork fans design based on the Pokemon series, and it will be interesting to see what the community comes up with next. For those wanting to see ChuggernautChug make more sports crossovers with Pokemon, the artist revealed that they had already designed another featuring an NFL team. Time will tell if they attempt to give even more sports team logos a Pokemon-themed redesign in the coming weeks. If they do, one thing is for sure; they are likely to impress.
