Ever since 2016, IO Interactive has brought a lot to the table with its soft reboot of the Hitman franchise. This is evident with the well-received current trilogy of games, with Hitman 3 now entering its second year of support. Earlier this month, the developer teased the plans for Hitman 3 Year 2, detailing several new things in the works. This includes a new game mode, VR support for all games in the trilogy, and more for players to enjoy. This update is now live for players to engage in.

The Year 2 update for Hitman 3 is in the form of a patch, updating the game to version 3.100. Players will need to download this patch for all currently available versions of the game, including PC. Cloud versions of the game on the Switch and Stadia won't need to download or install the patch for the game, as they will get access to the latest version game when launched. The Hitman Trilogy package will be releasing the same time as the update on Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and other current platforms.

As for what's included in this update, one of the biggest additions is the game's Elusive Target Arcade mode. This takes Hitman 3's Elusive Target mechanics to a new level, where it will introduce new challenges and unlockable rewards for players to take on. Unlike the previous games, these targets are permanently available to hunt through the Arcade, even if a player succeeds or fails in the mission. Successfully killing the Elusive Target will allow players to reset the contract and be able to play it again, while failure will lock a player out from taking on the contract for 12 hours.

Hitman's VR Support was also outlined in the blog post, where it will be supported on all PC platforms. This will be available across all three games, where any player who owns either game in the Hitman Trilogy will be able to play it in VR. The minimum and supported hardware for this mode are listed in the post as well.

Finally, this patch also comes with many bugs and issues being fixed in Hitman 3, such as smaller fixes like NPC portraits now matching the correct character, along with much bigger stability fixes in regard to players randomly being disconnected from the online. In addition, Epic Game Store Achievements and Avatar support has also been added, along with Windows PC and PC Game Pass support. Progression between Xbox consoles and Windows PC versions of the game will be retained, so players can pick up where they left off and vice versa.

Hitman 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
