Despite being one of 2021's first games, Hitman 3 has enjoyed success from critics and fans alike. IO Interactive plans to keep riding that wave of success with teases for Hitman 3's Year 2 of content, like its predecessors have done previously.

Since its launch, Hitman 3 has been receiving a steady wave of content that continues to flesh out the already expansive game. The largest new content to come to the game has been the Seven Deadly Sins DLC series, a 7-part expansion tasking Agent 47 with taking down the titular Christian sins, starting with Season of Greed in March. Hitman 3 is currently in the final season of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Season of Wrath, which brings the ongoing story to a close in time for next year's new content. Back in September, IO Interactive also announced that the Hitman 3 team had expanded, though without too many specifics, was likely due to the continued content that Hitman 3 has steadily been receiving.

In a new blog post, IO Interactive reveals some of its plans regarding Year 2 of Hitman 3. Before jumping too far into announcements, IO Interactive starts with the proclamation that Hitman 3 is now "the most successful Hitman game of all time," with the World of Assassination trilogy having brought in 50 million players. With no signs of slowing down, IO Interactive brings to light some upcoming features that its PC players exclusively will be enjoying next year, including Ray Tracing support and VR compatability. All players will have a new game mode to look forward to in Elusive Target Arcade, a new variation of the classic Elusive Target formula.

Some more information on the PC enhancements, IO Interactive "is committed to bringing the best possible performance and optimization to [its] PC players." While the game has already received support for PCs with 8+ CPUs and Variable Rate Shading, in 2022, Ray Tracing finally comes to Hitman 3 on PC after not being available on any platform previously. Furthermore, the PS4 and PS5 versions of Hitman 3 launched with PS VR compatability, but in January 2022 the feature will finally apear on PC, with more technical details coming in the future. Year 2 of Hitman 3 officially starts on January 20, 2022.

Without a doubt, it is great news to see IO Interactive and the Hitman 3 team continuing to thrive. The new features coming to the game are largely targeted for the PC players but everyone benefits in the end, as it shows the team is still dedicated to fleshing out the Hitman 3 experience, especially with the "[REDACTED]" major update coming next spring. If it is anything like the Seven Deadly Sins update, then players should have another year's worth of content to look forward to. Now IO Interactive just needs to give an update on that James Bond game it is working on.

Hitman 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
