Acting as the culmination to IO Interactive's World of Assassination trilogy, Hitman 3 is shaping up to be the studio's biggest game to date, offering six new maps on top of acting as a hub for all the content featured in the previous two Hitman titles. With the game slated to drop in just two days' time, fans are more excited than ever to see what IO Interactive has been cooking up in the two years since it released Hitman 2.

Luckily, a new launch trailer celebrating the game's imminent release provides a solid taster of what's to come, focusing on Agent 47 violently dismantling a range of elusive targets. Alongside the action, the story of the iconic assassin's latest venture is shown off throughout the trailer, with several sequences focusing on familiar faces from previous iterations.

Set afore the backdrop of a dramatic, almost Bond-esque song, the trailer begins by flitting between several of the sequel's featured locations, including the nightclub-focused Berlin level, the striking vineyards of the Mendoza map, and the Dartmoor location's classic English manor setting. As always for Hitman, these levels will be a lot more than just set dressing, with the trailer showing Agent 47 using the distinct environments to pull off some grisly kills. One, for example, sees the assassin shove a watchful guard off of a balcony terrace, while another sees him drown a target in a toilet.

As for the narrative-focused aspects of the trailer, it seems Hitman 3 will continue the storyline of its predecessor, as Agent 47 teams up with his former-enemy Lucas Grey. The pair are seen collaborating on missions during the trailer, with one sequence focusing on the duo base jumping into the Dubai hotel shown throughout the vast majority of Hitman 3's previews. Meanwhile, series staple Diana is also focused on, with 47 seemingly searching for her during the trailer. It appears she'll crop in person during the Mendoza segment, with the trailer picturing her watching over the vineyard from a balcony.

All in all, the launch trailer is yet more proof that IO Interactive is developing its biggest game yet with Hitman 3. The title will likely be the last fans see of Agent 47 for quite some time, with the studio moving on to its James Bond title Project 007 once production on the series has officially wrapped. The team has definitely had one of the strongest stints of its career since it rebooted the series back in 2016, going independent back in 2017 after a long stay under Square Enix.

Hitman 3 will be available on January 20 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.
