Players who have experienced Hitman 3 already know that the game is bursting with stunning artwork, crisp audio, and gripping gameplay. It's been critically well-received and players are enjoying the conclusion of the trilogy. The game is rightfully enjoying some time basking in the spotlight as a marvel in the industry and an example of how future developers should successfully conclude a franchise.
Yet even the best of games deserve a good ribbing to keep them humble. This wouldn't be the first series to be ruined by pretentiousness, derailed by arrogance, and generally took things for granted. It's smart to keep it light. The critics can point out a few faults, but the average gamer likes to kick back and laugh with a few pointed memes. Laughter is the best medicine, so it's wise to get in a good giggle just to maintain a healthy sense of humor.
10 Decisions, Decisions
Throughout the game, players will be confronted with several paths that can result in getting in silently, accomplishing the goal, and getting out before anyone else gets hurt. But sometimes the target is in the middle of a party and temptation strikes.
It's great to look up a few tips for creative ways to accomplish the Icarus Challenge. But sometimes Agent 47 can't resist a straight-up gunfight that ensures no witnesses will be left to tattle on him.
9 Not Right Now...
It happens to everyone. Agent 47 has a great disguise that nobody sees through. The target is approaching and in a few more moments, it'll be a simple push or a silenced shot and then it'll all be over.
And that's when players find out their disguise was too good and a "friend" asks for help doing the job that Agent 47 is dressed to do. It's advisable to learn how to change difficulty, but sometimes easier settings make the disguise even better than desired.
8 Just Give It A Few Hours
Some challenges like the Flying Monkey Business Challenge require a bit of knowledge before tackling them head-on. Others just require a lot of patience. And then even more patience. And then extra patience just to be sure.
Everybody makes the mistake of looking up a guide, seeing the target patrol by the bench, and trying the trick themselves. What the guides don't mention is that this patrol pattern happens after several hours of waiting around.
7 Define "Innocent"
Whether landing on Dubai's tallest tower or learning how to unlock the mysterious switches in Dartmoor, there is a healthy sense of curiosity when playing as Agent 47. But there is a blurry line that, when crossed, becomes unhealthy.
It's addictive to kill various people and role play as them. Sometimes this addiction means that everyone on the map has been killed except for the actual target. It's not the gamer's fault that it's so much fun to live other people's lives.
6 There Are Other Missions?
The very first mission is in Dubai. For many gamers that pour dozens of hours into the game, it will also be the very final mission. There are twenty mastery levels to earn, several shortcuts to find, and hundreds of lives to study.
So while some players will be studying to find the helicopter key, far more will just be playing around and enjoying the sandbox of assassinations and disguises. There is just too much here to simply move on after winning.
5 It Sounded Like Such A Good Idea
Sometimes collateral damage just becomes part of the job. Anybody who wants that gold brick in Dubai will be willing to do some pretty heinous things to get it. Every player will have a favorite hiding spot until some wandering NPC gets too nosy.
Of course, jamming all of the bodies in a bathroom stall is a great tactic until somebody with a radio decides to use that stall. Then it's high-alert mode for the rest of the map. Unless, of course, the security guard can be caught from behind and become another body on the pile.
4 Unwanted Advice
It's astonishing that Agent 47 hasn't hung up the cleats yet. Gamers understand that being an assassin means that the role is probably for life, but there comes a time when the money has piled up so high that it's only reasonable to enjoy some time in the tropics.
Yet Agent 47 insists on continuing to be the hand of death. Even when he isn't killing, he's finding case files and solving mysteries in Death in the Family. The only time he wants to be on a resort is if there's somebody to kill in that resort. No time to even take a dip in the poor, unfortunately.
3 A Win Is A Win
Sometimes things go sideways. Even the simplest guards on the easiest settings have a radio, so alerting one guard is like alerting the entire map. And when that happens, getting out of the situation isn't going to be a simple affair.
Agent 47 might not be dressed for an assault, but he's got all the skills, bullets, and gadgets to win with a direct approach. A botched job isn't the preferred angle, but players can't help but smile when every threatening target lies dead at their feet.
2 Now's As Good A Time As Any
It happens to even the veterans. Players will eliminate a worker, put on their clothes, and blend in with absolute perfection. Then some rascal comes across the body of their longtime friend and there Agent 47 is wearing the name tag of the deceased individual.
Yes, it looks suspicious to dip out as soon as everyone comes together to frantically mourn the fallen worker. But it's even more suspicious to hang around and cry with them while the dead guy's blood is still lingering on Agent 47's sleeves.
1 "It's A Team Effort"
Everybody wants a piece of the pie. It's still a travesty that the team will send Agent 47 in with the bare minimum against a target with hordes of guards and the best security system planet earth has ever seen.
Then, when Agent 47 wants a little extra protection, they charge outlandish prices that come directly out of his paycheck. That's messed up. He does all of the legwork, his piece of the action should be his to keep.
