Following the release of Hitman in 2016 and Hitman 2 in 2018, IO Interactive is gearing up to ship Hitman 3 next month, bringing Agent 47 and his deadly arsenal of weapons to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The game is already set to be the most ambitious entry in the series to date, with a slate of expansive new maps from all across the world.

For those wanting to see exactly how the third and final entry in the World of Assassination trilogy will play, however, the team over at IO has got them covered. Releasing a new trailer titled "Introducing Hitman 3," the team has showcased a short slice of the title's gameplay, including some brutal kills and striking new locations.

The footage will be pretty familiar to those who played the original pair of Hitman reboots, with the core structure seeing players scope out a target, hide in plain sight, set up a kill, and execute it. As expected for the franchise, that involves pulling off some grisly kills, with the trailer showcasing Agent 47 using a fiber wire to garrote enemies, a sniper rifle to execute them from afar, and his iconic silverballer silenced pistol for up close and personal encounters. Of course, outfits will make a return too, seeing players don intricate disguises to infiltrate areas where Agent 47 isn't welcome.

Alongside that gameplay loop, the title will once again boast a wide variety of luxurious locations, with the trailer focusing on the already announced Dubai, Thornbridge Manor, and Chongqing maps. The locations looked to be filled with potential targets and assassination methods, including poisoning gourmet meals, arranging deadly meetings, and dropping chandeliers on unexpecting foes. The trailer concludes by talking about the game's mastery levels, revealing those wanting to play every aspect of a given map will gain access to new starting locations, weapons, outfits, and more. If the footage is anything to go off, it looks to be yet another substantial Hitman experience from IO Interactive.

Speaking of IO, the studio has had quite the year. Announcing Hitman 3 back in June and amassing 70 million players in November, the team has managed to push the franchise to new heights during 2020, however, its biggest reveal came last month. Offering a first look at its next undertaking over Twitter, IO Interactive announced it will officially be working on a brand new James Bond game called Project 007, with the title slated to focus on the character's origin story. Although no release date was given, logic would suggest it will be the company's next big project following Hitman 3, with the sequel set to conclude the reboot trilogy IO Interactive began back in 2016.

Hitman 3 is releasing in January 2021 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
