Just yesterday, IO Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive teased a forthcoming content reveal related to the long-running stealth-action franchise, Hitman, with an announcement of some kind set to occur this Thursday, June 7, 2018. Now, however, it looks as if the proverbial beans have been spilled a bit prematurely, for it appears as if a direct sequel to the 2016 release has potentially leaked on WB Games' official website ahead of the title's sanctioned debut.

As seen in the image below, fans managed to discover the Hitman 2 logo on WB Games' servers, which all but confirms that it and IO Interactive are planning a followup to the series' most recent installment. Beyond the picture of what is seemingly the title card for the sequel, though, there are no additional details that help support this week's announcement regarding the stealth-action franchise as being related to a Hitman 2 announcement.

For those unaware, the last Hitman was initially released as an episodic experience before IO Interactive decided to compile the complete first season of content into one full compendium available for purchase across its PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms as Hitman: Definitive Edition. Should the sequel follow suit, then fans should expect for Hitman 2 to put out various levels and their stories packaged as episodes available to be bought à la carte as they're released.

All things considered, it's still too early to tell how Hitman 2's business model will be arranged, especially since all that has been unearthed so far is a simple logo of the sequel on a plain black background. Nevertheless, with the publisher Warner Bros. having teamed up with IO Interactive, fans of the franchise can at least rejoice for the fact that everyone's favorite virtual assassin, Agent 47, is primed to return to action.

Hitman 2 has yet to be officially announced.
