In the enigmatic land of adventure that is Terraria, players have many opportunities to come across strange, and sometimes hilarious, situations. This survival game by developer Re-Logic was released in 2011 and has been entertaining fans for a full decade.

And in that time, many phenomena were captured in meme format for the enjoyment of many upon the internet. True fans have seen what kind of crazy shenanigans lurk deep underground and in bizarre biomes, so they in particular will get these visual jokes based on the much-loved game.

10 Touch It & Die

meme comparing minecraft to terraria.

There is a well-known similarity between Terraria and Minecraft; how could there not be? They are both survival games with minimalist graphics, though this format of gameplay has been around a lot longer than either game.

This meme compares the two games via contrast instead of comparing similar traits, and elaborates on the core differences between the two. There is a challenge in a game's bosses, but then there is straight-up danger.

9 Who Is More Dangerous? A Cyborg Or A Mushroom Person?

two enemies have their damage output compared in this meme.

RPG mechanics can be a bit immersion-breaking, for when the player is supposed to get to certain areas, the developers expect them to be around a certain level or have a particular tier of equipment. Though, they sometimes leave the way open to daunting optional areas that can house proportionately overpowered foes.

Because of this, and other reasons, the enemies in Terraria that hit the hardest are a bit unexpected, as exemplified by a blue-headed mushroom person being able to wallop the player with greater impact than a literal cyborg that shoots rockets. This is also probably a nod to the mushroom people from Dark Souls who also pack devastating punches.

8 Rated T For Terraria

some adult jokes in terraria.

It may surprise many to learn that Terraria is actually rated "T" for teens and up, according to its ESRB rating. It has earned this from depicting blood and gore, cartoon violence, mild suggestive themes (pictured above), and the use of alcohol.

There are certainly some references to more adult material in this survival game, however, they are pretty subtle and inoffensive...for the most part.

7 Different Species

meme about turtles in both games with spongebob.

Once more, the enemy difficulty in Terraria and Minecraft get compared, but this time through the lens of everyone's favorite sentient sponge.

Turtles in Minecraft are pretty cool, however, they are the opposite of what the player would call useful. Turtles in Terraria, on the other hand, are a completely different story.

6 Slime AI

joke about a green and blue slime talking about attacking the player.

Slimes are never known for their sophisticated AI or their overall intelligence, therefore whenever some wobble or ooze toward the player, one should not think too lowly of them for their attempts at assault, for they are merely blobs of goo without organs.

Although, Terraria has an immense variety of slimes that range from impressive to deadly. It should be mentioned, however, that the blue and green slimes don't really fall into these categories.

5 Easiest Boss

joke about king slime being the weakest boss.

Despite technically being a boss, King Slime is not that impressive once the player gets over the fact that it is huge, has some sort of ninja trapped inside their mass, and possesses an extravagant crown.

This boss does not pose much of a threat, even for semi-competent fighters. The regular blue slimes that it summons when getting hurt don't even make the battle more difficult. The fact that it shrivels and shrinks while being assailed is a testament to their frailty, however, they never give up in their attempt to change the player's mind of this.

4 Pesky Fire Imps

meme about fire imps being hostile.

Caster enemies are some of the most annoying to deal with in this survival game. One second, a player can be mining deep underground while minding their own business, the next, they're covered in burning spheres that seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

This is because fire imps get aggravated by merely sensing the player nearby and will hurl their scorching attacks from afar, as these fiery projectiles can travel through blocks. Furthermore, they can teleport all over the place to harass one from almost any angle.

3 But...The Stats!

joke about armor stats.

Another RPG trope found in Terraria is the fact that armor functions based on stats, not how defensive it looks. For example, a full suit of metal and crystals can have lower defense than bits of fabric.

Though, this can be explained (albeit lazily) by the latter material simply possessing extremely resistant qualities or being enchanted in some way.

2 Fight Flesh With Bees

meme about the wall of flesh boss being cheesed with beenades.

While the Wall of Flesh is a horrific monstrosity of a boss, players can come to this fight packing something equally as terrifying: grenades that spawn bees.

Not only can this consumable deal great damage very quickly to this large enemy, but the bees can also home-in on the filthy leeches that the boss spawns to clear them out quickly. This is a tried and tested method of cheesing the Wall of Flesh that players have been enjoying for years.

1 Why Do I Here Boss Music?

joke about accidentally encountering a boss. (larger image)

Bosses and their spawn criteria, as well as their locations, in Terraria, can be a bit tricky to understand and discover. Thus, inevitably, the player will bump into some while not expecting it, or, even more ominously, one will simply hear their boss music nearby.

This eerie feeling of knowing that a powerful foe is close, but not where exactly they are, can really freak a person out and decrease one's real-life sanity. When entering a new location, and unique music begins to play, all true Terraria fans will know to be on their guard.
