Things may have been a bit rocky for Bungie's latest release during its early years but Destiny 2 is starting to gain a bit of steam as it heads towards one of its most prominent and important updates. The upcoming Shadowkeep DLC is promising some big changes for the title and it marks the first expansion since Bungie split from Activision. Players are anxiously awaiting an expanding MMO-like armor system dubbed Armor 2.0 which should give a lot more variety to players, making the grind-heavy loot-fest even more appealing than it already is for some.

With all this exciting news around the corner, we decided to take a look back at some of the hilarious memes that Destiny 2 has spawned over the years. It will be interesting to see if some of these things will remain as meme-worthy in the future or if even more ridiculous memes pop up to take their place.

10 Know Your Role

Anyone who has played Destiny 2 long enough to engage in a Raid should immediately understand this meme. When Raids first release, guardians are eager to jump in and get their hands dirty, swimming through hordes of enemies, difficult puzzles, and frustrating bosses just to be among the first to conquer the newest threat to harass the galaxy. You can pretty much guarantee at least a week or two of high-octane action, and then the guides and speedruns start pouring in. Pretty soon, everyone has their role, and anyone looking to "get things done as smoothly and quickly as possible" better have the right exotics equipped.

9 That One Person...

Everyone knows the person we're talking about. You spend seven hours waiting and communicating with your clan or group, trying to gather enough members and complimenting roles to tackle a raid. Everything seems to be going well but right before you jump in, "that person" bails. It's happened to all of us at least once or twice (or maybe we've been unfortunately forced to be "that person"). Whatever the reason or issue, it can put a downright damper on a Raid run. If you're lucky enough to find a replacement that understands the Raid quickly then you're golden, but sometimes you're forced to pull a random, which is like rolling the dice on whether you end up with a helpful teammate that wants to learn or a lone wolf that has "all the answers."

8 The Ultimate Timesink

When Destiny 2 first arrived on-scene, gamers were downright torn. Those that lived and breathed Bungie's universe tried hard to hold onto their dream of a great sequel but other players were quick to jump ship over the plethora of problems that the title was facing. Fast-forward to now and Destiny 2 has fixed a lot of the issues it once had, and while it's nowhere near perfect, Bungie is still working diligently to craft a game that everyone can love and enjoy for years to come.

Whether you love Destiny 2 now or only hop on from time to time, there is one thing we can all agree on. The game is insanely fun and it's very easy to lose track of time playing it.

7 Dealing With Drifter

Gambit brought a new and refreshing angle to the multiplayer capabilities of Destiny 2. The game mode (and it's new Prime addition) is a mixture of PvE and PvP, pitting guardians against one another in a race to see who can defeat a boss in the shortest amount of time. Joining a random team (with lack of communication) can be a nightmare and there is nothing more demeaning then losing a round and having to listen to Drifter give you the business.

6 The Unobtainable

Destiny 2 can be incredibly unforgiving when it comes to its RNG. You may find yourself showered in a mass array of exotics and quests, grabbing each and every new weapon that developers add. Or you may be cursed to only find one exotic every Blue Moon, forcing you to gather most of your best gear from Xur each week. There are even some of us that seemingly have everything we want but pine endlessly over one weapon, working tirelessly in an attempt to get it, only to be shot down every time. People who want to collect the ever-elusive One Thousand Voices know just how frustrating the RNG process can be.

5 Fashion Wars

One might think that the biggest conflict facing players on Destiny 2 is the endless array of monsters and superbosses keen on separating their head from their shoulders. That couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, most guardians are strong enough and capable enough to worry less about enemies and more about looking as good as possible. There are a lot of unique armors and weapons in Destiny 2 and coordinating them to fit your own "scheme" is definitely part of the fun. In fact, some guardians are even caught wearing "useless" exotic armor pieces simply because they look cool. We can't blame them.

4 Hey, Stupid!

The original Destiny featured a colorful cast of characters that offered some good laughs from time to time. Destiny 2 ramped the comedy up, giving us a wider array of good (and bad) characters that have some stellar one-liners and some great personality. The first time you meet Asher Mir you already know you're in for some serious verbal-abuse.

The cantankerous old awoken is very bent on showcasing just how much smarter he is than you. This meme uses a clip from That '70s Show and aims it directly at Titans and Hunters (conveniently leaving Warlocks out of it).

3 Stress Level 100

When it comes to challenging end-game content, Destiny 2 pours all of their most dastardly mechanics into Raids. Not only are the bosses difficult to beat, but they also come equipped with puzzle-like requirements and even timers that will wipe your entire team should you mess up a step or fail to down the creature in a particular amount of phases. Because of this, it can be brutally difficult and long-fought just to get a boss down to micro-increments of health. Imagine how much this amps the stress levels up when you find yourself the only one alive and a boss with a seemingly empty health-bar. Perish or take too long and your team is starting completely over.

2 The Heros Of Heroic

There are some people that live and breathe Destiny 2, knowing all the ins-and-outs of the game, as well as all of the hidden and special mechanics that are otherwise absent from most casual players. These players can almost seem godlike to those without the proper knowledge to trigger certain events and actions so it's no wonder they're so happy when a guardian passes by a normal world event and works their magic to turn it into a "heroic mode," complete with better rewards.

1 What's In A Name

Some of the best memes to spawn from Destiny 2 concern Bungie's clever weapon names so we'd be remiss if we didn't include at least one here. Some of them are a bit risque and others are just plain puntastic with the Internet pulling out all the stops to milk the craze until it was dry. Hopefully, Bungie will continue to crank out some great weapon names in the future so we can see a revival of this meme at some point.
