Rumors about a certain Xbox and Kojima collaboration have significantly picked up in the last few weeks.  Fans are speculating what the creative minds at Kojima Productions could cook up with Xbox's long list of resources. With E3 2021 right around the corner, many would expect Kojima to be a part of Xbox's showcase, however, a new rumor suggests that this won't likely be the case.

Speculations about Kojima partnering with Xbox for a new project started sprouting once eagled eyes fans noticed a Ludens figure next to the Xbox symbol in a Phil Spencer livestream. Spencer's previous streams have teased future announcements, and fans have made a habit of carefully observing his bookshelves and other objects in the vicinity for subtle clues. The speculations were fueled even further when prominent game journalist Jeff Grubb suggested that Xbox is indeed in talks with Kojima to publish his next game.

Unfortunately, nothing as such has been hinted at or confirmed by Kojima at this point. And if Grubb's latest statement on the matter is anything to go by, fans might not be getting a glimpse of Kojima's next game anytime soon. Answering a fan's question in the latest episode of Game Mess Show, Grubbs suggests how the deal may not close in time for Microsoft's E3 showcase. " I have heard no update there," he says. "My guess would be that stuff's not going to get done at the time of E3."

Grubb further suggests how a reveal would make much more sense at The Game Awards rather than E3. It's no surprise that The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley is good friends with Kojima. Kojima has made several appearances at The Game Awards as well. Aside from presenting awards and receiving them, Kojima revealed a new trailer for Death Stranding back at TGA 2017.

On the other hand, Xbox has also had a major presence at TGA in the last few years. Many would recall the out of the blue reveal of Xbox Series X and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 at TGA 2019. Halo Infinite would likely steal the spotlight at Xbox's E3  showcase alongside the rumored Starfield. As such, a Kojima Xbox reveal is more suited to TGA if it wants the much-needed space and spotlight.

The Game Awards doesn't air until December, so Kojima might want to hold on a little bit longer. That being said, there are endless exciting possibilities of what Kojima and Xbox collaboration would yield, and if it so happens to be the case, then fans are in for a treat.
