Hideo Kojima is one of the biggest names in the gaming industry and this is undoubtedly due to the legacy of the Metal Gear Solid games and his auteur-based approach to gaming. The game maker separated from Konami a few years ago and since then Kojima has been frequently updating Twitter with his experiences of visiting famous organizations and celebrities. This has led to plenty of speculation about future projects for Kojima Productions but the director revealed a story about meeting Gabe Newell from Valve that seems to be just a nice anecdote about the industry.

The developer Valve is responsible for the landmark Half-Life and Portal titles. As a result, the developer is greatly respected in the gaming world and it appears that Newell and Kojima had a mutual appreciation of each other when they met a few years ago. In fact, it seems that the pair had planned to visit SpaceX but this has yet to happen.

As part of Summer Game Fest, Hideo Kojima took questions from Geoff Keighley and was asked about a partnership with Valve in the wake of cosmetic items from Half-life being available in Death Stranding. Kojima explained that he and Newell bonded over a "passion for space" and Gave Newell suggested that they go to SpaceX. Despite Newell knowing the owner of SpaceX, Elon Musk, it seemed to never materialize and Kojima did express that he was looking forward to going to the aerospace company in the future.

While this isn't a new Kojima project with Valve, this relationship did seem to enable cosmetic features to be added to Death Stranding, and it is a pleasant anecdote about how major players in the video game industry form friendships. Elon Musk was quick to respond to this statement and welcomed Hideo Kojima to the company. If Kojima does take Musk up on the offer, fans will likely see news through the tweets of the director.

Geoff Keighley went on to ask Kojima about claims that he is a prophet because of parallels between Death Stranding and the current COVID-19 pandemic and the director jokingly claimed that the game would have sold more if that was the case. All in all, this seems to have been a fun interview that may result in a visit to SpaceX in the future.

The tweets of Kojima often show the game maker visiting famous organizations and many will look forward to seeing what he gets up to next. Although now that it has been spoken about, many fans of Newell, Kojima, and Musk would like to see the trio get together and discuss space as well as games.
