After the overwhelmingly positive response to Hideo Kojima's PT, horror game fans were understandably excited to see what the Metal Gear Solid creator could do in the haunting world of Silent Hill. Kojima's Silent Hills was poised to be one of the biggest horror game releases of the decade, and it looked as though it was going to put the classic survival-horror franchise back on track. Unfortunately, Konami canceled Silent Hills, Kojima departed from the company, and the series has now been dormant since 2012.

With Kojima's split from Konami being pretty ugly, fans have given up hope that he will ever get the chance to work on Silent Hill. However, a new rumor claims that Kojima is in talks with Konami to do just that, and is in talks to work on a new Silent Hill game. This rumor comes from Reddit poster Sarkzt0001, who apparently provided evidence to Silent Hill subreddit moderator MarcellusDrum to back up his claims. The evidence provided doesn't confirm Sarkzt0001's claims with 100% certainty, but it was enough to keep the post on the subreddit. Needless to say, fans should take it all with a grain of salt before they get too excited.

According to the post, Kojima has been in talks with Konami to work on a new Silent Hill game since he finished work on Death Stranding. The supposed deal with Konami is "settled," with Konami lending the Silent Hill IP to Kojima Productions. Kojima Productions and an undetermined third party will reportedly be funding its development. Konami will have a say in who the main actor will be, but otherwise Kojima Productions will have creative control. Norman Reedus will not be involved in the project for reasons that are unclear, though the cast will consist of high profile actors, not unlike Death Stranding.

According to the leaker, the collaboration between Kojima Productions and Konami on this new Silent Hill game is the reason why Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi recently left the studio. The leaker claims that Imaizumi "went against" the collaboration with Konami, as he didn't want to work with Konami again. However, Kojima reportedly wants to finish his vision of Silent Hills, as he thinks "his fans deserve it."

Again, fans should take all of this information with a massive grain of salt, as none of it can be confirmed. Konami recently allowed its rights to the Silent Hill website domain expire, which casts even more doubt on this being legitimate. However, the poster provided enough evidence to satisfy the subreddit's moderators, so the claims can't be ignored completely, as there is an off-chance that the poster is telling the truth.

Kojima has hinted that the next Kojima Productions game will be a horror game, and while it could be a completely original IP like Death Stranding, many fans would like to see Kojima complete his vision for PT/Silent Hills. It may be too good to be true, but if the leaker is telling the truth, they said we will get an announcement in 2020, or "if we're lucky," as early as The Game Awards 2019 on December 12.

Silent Hill is rumored to be in the works as a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Konami.
