There's still so little known about Death Stranding 2, but what can be ascertained is that recording has almost certainly started, according to a recent post from Hideo Kojima. Considered to be one of the most influential Japanese figures in gaming, Kojima's work encapsulates an elaborate blend of video game development and film direction, all combined into complex storytelling. He's also something of an elusive man, who's upcoming projects are often the center of much discussion in the industry. His Kojima Productions studio is quite busy at the moment. Not only is the outfit currently in the midst of developing the anticipated sequel, but there's a movie adaptation of the original Death Stranding in the works as well. There's also an Xbox exclusive title that is said to be a horror game but, again, very little information at the moment. The gaming auteur himself also began a podcast in 2022 called "Brain Structure." In all of this, it's surprising that he has time to do anything else, but it looks as though he's keen to let people know that progress is currently being made on at least one project.RELATED: Hideo Kojima Tease May Reveal More People Appearing in Death Stranding 2A recent Twitter post from Kojima shows that Death Stranding 2 has started recording the game's dialogue. While the director himself doesn't outright say this, a number of images strongly suggest this to be the case, with one photo showing an actor, possibly Lea Seydoux, in a recording booth in front of what appears to be a script. With another image depicting a door with the words "Recording Room," it stands to reason that this part of the game's development has well and truly started.

At this stage, not much is known about the follow-up to Kojima Production's first outing. It was recently revealed just how important Elle Fanning's role will be in Death Stranding 2, but outside that, there's not a huge amount known about the project, which is just how Hideo Kojima appears to be approaching this sequel.

With its deconstruction of the open world gaming trope, 2019's Death Stranding was the maiden release of Kojima Productions after the director split from Konami a few years prior. The game itself received positive reviews, with many praising its unique mechanics and overall visuals. However, some criticized the fact that the game felt more like an advanced walking simulator, which to some would have come across as lackluster. Whatever people thought, it certainly made an impression when it was released, and it will be interesting to see whether the second installment will be just as much of a talking point.

Death Stranding 2 is in development for the PS5.
