Most gamers would agree that this year Microsoft more than delivered with their E3 2018 press conference, showing off 50 new titles and hosting 15 world premieres. But of course, everyone knows you always save the best for last and that's exactly what they did, revealing a new trailer for CyberPunk 2077, the newest title from The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red. The trailer has already been found to include hidden messages for fans, but it seems that CD Projekt left more than anyone previously thought.

The story starts as Xbox head Phil Spencer is seemingly about to close the show when the presentation and livestream appeared to be "hacked" by CD Projekt looking to show off a new CyberPunk 2077 trailer. It's in the small intro, which doesn't appear in the official version on the CyberPunk 2077  YouTube page, that fans have found a new message from someone at CD Projekt. The message, after having numbers swapped out for letters, reads "We leave greed to others". You can see a screenshot of the message below.

From what can be seen, it appears that CD Projekt Red has a few words of criticisms for game publishers and developers who use excessive microtransactions and loot boxes to squeeze more money from players. More evidence of this belief held by CD Projekt appears in the previously discovered hidden messages in the trailer, which serves as a sort of frequently asked questions page for excited fans. Under a section called "Microtransactions", CD Projekt made their options known, stating "in a single player game? Are you nuts?"

Microtransactions and loot boxes have become more and more commonplace in gaming in recent years, as well as a huge topic of debate among gamers and critic. Many believe that the situation has gotten out of hand and some publishers are getting greedy, particularly when one looks at the controversies around games like Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Many will point to microtransactions in single-player titles, like Far Cry 5 which locked some guns and cosmetics behind a paywall, as an example of such transactions having a negative effect on players experience and that any such content should be available to a player who paid full price for the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 Set to Start Pre-Release Marketing

CD Projekt put themselves on the map like never before with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, delivering gorgeous visuals, amazing gameplay and a compelling story in both the base game and its two expansions. Now, the studio has a lot to live up to with CyberPunk 2077 but by all accounts, they feel ready for the challenge. Let's all hope their confidence isn't misguided.

Cyberpunk 2077 platforms have not yet been confirmed and the game does not yet have a release date.
