Ever since the announcement that Blizzard would be pulling developers to work on new projects, Heroes of the Storm fans have been rightfully worried about the future of the MOBA. Now it seems the developer might be trying to garner some goodwill with its base by adding a new character to its roster, Mei from Overwatch.

Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA by Blizzard that features a roster of characters from across its various franchises. In 2018, Blizzard decided to end its esports events, perhaps seeing the game wasn't doing nearly as well as its competitors like Dota 2 or League of Legends.

Blizzard has now announced that Mei, the ice-based climate scientist from Overwatch, will be coming to Heroes of the Storm. Mei is now the 9th Overwatch hero to be added to the roster, and is the first new character the game has seen since Warcraft's Deathwing back in December 2019.

Mei will be a Warrior character, which is Heroes of the Storm's version of a Tank. Her playstyle heavily revolves around her ice-themed abilities, many of which include some kind of stun or slow effect.

Many players will be excited to hear that a new character will be joining the squad, but it's hard to not feel wary about the current state of the game. Even with Blizzard insisting the game isn't dead, fans continue to stay skeptical on the longevity of the game after the ending of its esports scene and moving developers to other projects. Hopefully, with the addition of this new character, Blizzard can start to gain some of the trust back with its audience.
