Horror movie director Ari Aster has made a name for himself with the films Hereditary and Midsommar, and now he's looking forward to his next project. Aster recently shared what horror fans can expect from his new movie, describing it as an R-rated "nightmare comedy" that will be four hours long.

It's possible that Aster was just joking when he said that his next movie will be four hours long, as that's one aspect of his films that has been criticized by some. Hereditary was over two hours long, and Midsommar was nearly 2 and a half hours long. An extended cut of Midsommar was released that made the film clock in at nearly three hours long. This is a bit odd for horror movies, which tend to be on the shorter side compared to other film genres.

In any case, Aster's work has earned critical acclaim so far and have become quite popular among fans of the genre. Some fans have even taken to recreating scenes from his films in video games, like when Midsommar was recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Besides Aster's next film, there should be plenty for horror movie fans to look forward to in the future. A new Scream movie is on the way, and one has to imagine that acclaimed director Jordan Peele is working on his next film as well.
