Given the box office success the company has seen from remakes of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, it's not a surprise that Disney is dipping back into the well for another remake.

The Disney Renaissance—the era where Disney reversed their sagging fortunes during the late 80s and early 90s—produced some of the studio's best work. Not only were the movies blockbusters on the big screen, but the games found a place in fans' hearts as well. So much so that the Aladdin and The Lion King games received the remaster treatment and were released on the PS4, Switch, and Xbox One last year. The House of Mouse has not only been remastering their classic SNES and Genesis offerings, but also going back into the catalogue and remaking its most beloved movies.

Next in line for Disney appears to be Hercules, a movie that hit towards the tail end of the Renaissance era, but a film that has a dedicated fanbase nonetheless. Very few details about this latest remake are available at this time, but the brothers who directed Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Joe and Anthony Russo, are slated to produce the film.

Danny DeVito was trending on Twitter, and while that can sometimes be an ominous sign that something terrible has happened, it was the result of fans wanting the actor to reprise his role from the animated film as Philoctetes in this remake of Hercules.

With these remakes making bank at the box office, it's a safe bet that fans who grew up during this era of Disney will turn out for a Hercules remake. While the movie is a long way off, fans are already speculating on what this remake may look like.
