Upset fans of Netflix's The Witcher series create a petition in an attempt to keep Henry Cavill in his role as Geralt of Rivia after it was announced that he would be leaving the show after Season 3 and replaced with Liam Hemsworth. The Witcher has proven to be a big hit for Netflix ever since the fantasy series first premiered on the streaming platform in 2019, and while there's been some criticism of the show's writing and pacing, there's been a great deal of praise for Cavill's portrayal of Geralt.

Cavill's Geralt has been such a key component to the success of The Witcher TV series, and so it's understandable that fans of the show are worried about what it will be like without him. Fans will get to see Cavill play Geralt again in The Witcher Season 3, scheduled to premiere in summer 2023, but that will be the end of his run as the titular Witcher. While some fans have accepted this news and are interested in seeing how Liam Hemsworth approaches the role, many others are not happy with this news and are making their grievances known with a new petition that is picking up a lot of steam.

The Change.org petition to keep Henry Cavill as Geralt in The Witcher was created by user Stef Ma. It didn't get much attention for its first couple of days online, but it's starting to blow up in popularity, amassing new signatures with nearly every refresh of the page. So far, the petition has amassed over 4,700 signatures at the time of this writing, nearing the 5,000 signature milestone that will help extend its reach even further.

The petition itself talks about how The Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski has praised Cavill as Geralt, going as far as to compare his portrayal to Viggo Mortensen's as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings film franchise. The petition mentions recent accusations that writers on The Witcher show have "mocked" the source material, claiming that it is the reason why Cavill has decided to leave the Netflix series. However, it should be pointed out that a clear reason for Cavill's departure hasn't actually been made public.

Cavill's statement about leaving The Witcher Netflix series was full of encouragement for Liam Hemsworth, and he has given no indication that his departure has anything to do with potential conflicts with the writing team. The other leading theory as to why Cavill is leaving The Witcher Netflix series is that it would conflict with his big return as Superman to the DCEU, though again, there is not a concrete explanation.
