There are various games in development that players are looking forward to hearing more news about, and one of them is the anticipated Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. With the success of the original Hellblade game, Ninja Theory moved forward with development on a sequel.

While players have gotten some news about Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2's gameplay and setting, the developers haven't revealed much more as of late. However, the lead actress playing Senua, Melina Juergens, has released her own video diary for the upcoming game. The video doesn't provide any new gameplay, but it does show some behind-the-scenes footage for the making of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2.

Juergens' latest video is titled Diary of a Digital Hooman - Episode 2: Warriors in the Makin. It shows footage of how the actress got into the role of Senua the second time around. The video focuses on the combat training and physical journey Juergens underwent for the upcoming game.

In her video, Juergens emphasized how she was at a crossroads following the release of the first Hellblade, specifically about what she would do going forward, and what her next projects would be. The actress took a break for a few months before Ninja Theory approached her to reprise her role as Senua in the sequel. To enhance her performance, Juergens pursued doing her own stunt work for the sequel.

The video shows Juergens' preparations to achieve this. She enrolled in a masterclass on sword fighting and started the daily physical exercise to get into shape. Juergens also asked her partner Ederson Lion Macedo, an MMA coach and Pro Fighter, to help build her body's strength. He even taught her some MMA and self-defense moves, which helped Juergens explore Senua's fighting style and connect the moves with her weapons.

Juergens showed some of the moves she learned to the animators in Ninja Theory, which inspired the game's director to have the animators also enlist in the same course as Juergens so they could be stand-ins for enemies from Hellblade facing Juergens during motion capture. However, the training didn't stop there.

To push Juergens' sword fighting skills further, Ninja Theory reached out to C.C. Smiff, an award-winning swordmaster and stunt choreographer known for his work on Star Wars and the Game of Thrones TV series. The video shows some of Juergens' training with Smiff and bits of the process they went through to find the style that best suits her.

The video diary concludes with Juergens advancing her training with Smiff, and the animators from Ninja Theory finishing their combat courses, with both ready to begin training together. As the video wrapped up, Juergens said there will be another episode showing more in the future.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
