Console players will soon be able to try their hand at Hell Let Loose, the 100-player first-person shooter developed by Black Matter that released on PC in July. Set during World War 2, Hell Let Loose pits two 50-player teams of Germans and Americans against one another in intense skirmishes with artillery, tanks, infantry, and a dynamically changing frontline. The game currently has a Very Positive rating on Steam, based on nearly 33,000 reviews, and Hell Let Loose is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on October 5.

The console version of Hell Let Loose will launch as a free PlayStation Plus title for October, which has left some Xbox players feeling left out. It hasn’t helped that PS5 owners also got to participate in an open beta of the game earlier in September, and some media outlets have mistakenly called Hell Let Loose a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, likely making some Xbox owners fear that they wouldn’t be able to enjoy the game at all. Thankfully, this isn’t correct.

Hell Let Loose will be available for Xbox Series X and S players to purchase on October 5, and Microsoft console owners also won’t be left out of the chance to play the game for free before release. The developer has announced that a 10-hour trial of Hell Let Loose will be available on Xbox Series consoles up until the game’s launch. Players will have access to the full game, and progress will carry over to the retail purchase.

Some PlayStation Plus subscribers were unhappy when October’s free games were announced, partly because Hell Let Loose is a multiplayer game with no single-player options. However, the game’s reception since its release on PC and during the PS5 beta bodes well for players who enjoy battling it out with others online.

Hell Let Loose will feature some of the more iconic battles of the Western Front during World War 2, including Carentan, Omaha Beach, and Foy. The nine game maps were modeled to scale from real reconnaissance aerial images and satellite data, covering a range of terrain like forests, fields, and bridges. Each area captured will produce resources for the holding team, which can be used to call in support, bombing runs, new vehicles, and other elements that could change the tide of battle.

Players will have 14 roles to choose from, including officer, medic, sniper, and machine gunner, and the detailed uniforms, weapons, and vehicles used by each have been reproduced based on historical data. Because teamwork will be the key to victory, Hell Let Loose will also offer in-game proximity, command, and unit VoIP communication.

Hell Let Loose is available on PC and will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 5, 2021.
