Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan Expansion Details and Trailer

one night in karazhan trailer details

Blizzard unveils the newest adventure that Hearthstone players will be able to embark on, as One Night in Karazhan looks to disco strut its way into stardom next month.

Hearthstone is yet another example on Blizzard's ever-expanding resume of just how important character-building and charm can be to any video game genre. When the game first released, players were drawn in by its comical spin on the Warcraft universe only to find that the card game was fun and addictive as well. The gameplay and polish combined allowed Hearthstone to generate over $20 million in revenue each month during its early days, a figure that has likely swelled even more as the game has become a staple on the eSports scene.

Blizzard's decision to alternate between releasing massive card pool expansion sets and smaller sets called adventures has been widely praised thus far as a system that keeps Hearthstone fresh and interesting. The company announced today via YouTube that its latest adventure, called One Night in Karazhan, would be a light-hearted take on Warcraft movie villain Medivh's time as the Guardian in Karazhan. Check out the trailer below:

It's clear from the video that Hearthstone: One Night in Karazhan has a distinctly disco flavor to its adventure mode, which will follow a party being thrown at a pre-World of Warcraft Karazhan and the quest to find its missing host. 45 new cards will be released over the four weeks the adventure will take place, as One Night in Karazhan will follow the usual formula of one wing being made available per week after the first wing releases.

In an effort to follow up the massive and game-changing Whispers of the Old Gods Hearthstone expansion, Blizzard will be offering a free prologue mission to get gamers in the spirit of One Night in Karazhan. The introductory mission will allow players to take on the role of Medivh and will grant gamers two free cards for participating. The rest of One Night in Karazhan will be available for $4.99 USD per wing or for $13.99 on PC/Android or $14.99 on iPhone/iPad if gamers purchase the whole adventure at once.

While historically adventures have offered less of an impact on Hearthstone's ladder and tournament play, the recent shift to a Standard format in Hearthstone should make One Night in Karazhan a hot commodity for casual and pro players alike. The smaller card pool in the Standard format means releases like One Night in Karazhan have more opportunity to make a big splash, and every Hearthstone player should be able to find something they like once they spend One Night in Karazhan.

What do you think of the newest adventure? Is disco dead, or was it just sleeping? Let us know in the comments below.
