Hearthstone Mobile Gameplay

Blizzard's popular collectible card game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, has thrived since it's debut on PCs Macs in March of 2014. One month after its premiere, Hearthstone made its way to iPads, followed by Android tablets in late 2014. Suffice it to say, the game's been a massive success.

Today, Blizzard brings Hearthstone to even more players, as the game now supports iPod Touch devices and iPhone and Android smartphones.

Seasoned players will notice minor tweaks to Hearthstone's familiar user interface, which gracefully maintains a seamless gaming experience while adapting to the smaller screens on mobile devices. Aside from a few small adjustments, it's Hearthstone as usual; it's the same game as on the other platforms, simply optimized for mobile phones. Player's cards, gold, unlocked content and progress are shared across all devices, and cross-play is supported across all platforms.

In the official press release, Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime shared his excitement regarding the mobile expansion:

“We’re excited to welcome mobile gamers to the Hearthstone community. Hearthstone’s quick, super-accessible gameplay is perfect for gaming on the go, and with the mobile versions it’s incredibly easy to jump into a match and have some fun.”

This isn't a surprise release: fans were expecting a mobile release last fall, although the port was ultimately delayed. Fortunately, gamers didn't have to wait too long into the new year to carry Hearthstone around in their pockets.

New players will have plenty of content to consume, given that Hearthstone recently launched its third expansion, Blackrock Mountain, following Curse of Naxxramas and the Goblins vs Gnomes card packs.

To add an incentive that both new and veteran gamers will enjoy, Blizzard will award players with a free Classic card pack after completing one game on a mobile device. The card pack will be gifted, win or lose, by playing in the either Play, Arena or Practice modes.

Hearthstone is available for free on PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices. The Curse of Naxxramas adventure is playable for $19.99, and the Blackrock Mountain expansion costs $24.99. Additional card packs can be purchased in either Classic or Goblins vs Gnomes flavors.
