Production on the third season of Titans is currently underway following a delayed start due to the pandemic. Now, HBO Max has released the first official photo of Anna Diop in the new super-suit for Starfire for next season.

When Titans debuted on the DC Universe streaming service in 2018, a vocal group of fans was upset by the character's costume design, which was notably different from the outfit worn by her comic book counterpart. While the second season updated the outfit to make it more suitable for crime-fighting rather than a night out on the town, it still bore little resemblance to the source material's costume aside from the purple color scheme.

Now, Warner Bros. and DC are inching closer towards bringing Starfire's comic book suit to life with an updated look from costume designer Laura Jean Shannon. The new design is based on concept art by Gina DeDomenico, a photo of which was included with HBO Max's post featuring Diop in costume. As with the outfit featured in comics animated shows in which Starfire appears, the new suit has a purple color scheme complemented by green opal accents. However, at what point during the third season of Titans fans can expect to see Diop don the new suit and under what narrative circumstances is currently unclear.

Diop's Kory Anders, who has yet to officially assume her Starfire moniker, will be a central figure in the storyline of Titans season 3. The previous season concluded with a sister, Blackfire, arrive on Earth with the intention of killing Starfire after having already murdered their parents to ascend to the throne of their homeworld, the Tamaranean. The new season of Titans is also set to introduce iconic DC characters such as Barbara Gordon, Red Hood, and Scarecrow to the series.

HBO Max will be the exclusive home Titans for the show's third season now that DC Universe is reverting to a digital comics subscription service starting next year. The series will be joined by former DC Univers shows Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn.

Not every DC Universe series will be following Titans to the WarnerMedia streaming service. The second season of Stargirl, for example, will air exclusively on The CW, the network that had broadcast episodes from the first season day after they premiered on DC Universe.

Titans is now available on HBO Max.
