H.A.W.X. was more or less a disappointment when compared to the pantheon of Tom Clancy media. Though, you would be hard pressed to find someone who denies that the game looked good, but cosmetic advantages can only take you so far. What the game lacked in execution it certainly made up for in potential. If this trailer is any indication Ubisoft is well aware of where they went wrong and plans to rectify a lot of their shortcomings.

Though the trailer revolves mostly around text and cut-scenes, it does the trick when it comes to establishing itself as a more arcade style flight simulator. This isn’t the insane aerial combat one might expect from something like a Crimson Skies, H.A.W.X. is light on Val Kilmer and heavy on the Michael Ironside. If their promises are fulfilled, this sequel will have better enemies, less graphics issues, and varied gameplay.

Just slapping Tom Clancy’s name on any ol' property isn’t what it used to be. Before, Tom Clancy’s name meant political intrigue. It meant that the storyline was going to involve our nation’s political system slowly unraveling from within by way of some maniacal force. Now his name could mean so many things — everything from Sam Fisher to a tactical team running through Vegas.

Whether you fancy yourself the Top Gun or you’re everyone’s favorite wingman, H.A.W.X. 2 will hopefully fill your every need. The game’s release is just around the corner and there is even a demo out their waiting for you to give it a test run. But, for now, keep that need for speed in check because you do not have the free and clear for launch.
