The following article contains spoilers for Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Hawkeye's season finale is about to mark the end of a transition year for Marvel Studios, with several Phase Four plot points now out in the wild. However, Clint Barton's biggest contribution to the MCU is definitely not his young apprentice Kate Bishop, but rather the big guy everyone’s been talking about for weeks, as seen in the final episode’s trailer.

For months Hawkeye had been rumored to be the scenario where Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin would make his MCU comeback, and last week’s episode confirmed that with a blurry picture that points to Wilson Fisk and Vera Farmiga's Eleanor Bishop being accomplices. Naturally, Kingpin is the big powerful villain the show’s been talking about all this time and it looks like he could be returning to settle matters with the Tracksuit Mafia and his niece once and for all.

The Hawkeye teaser trailer posted by Marvel Entertainment is aptly named “The Boss,” and though quite short, it does give a few glimpses at some payoffs the show’s been setting up for nearly a month now. Besides Clint and Kate's finished costumes and an arsenal of Hawkeye trick arrows, the sight of the big guys’ signature cane from the comic book and his dark suit from Daredevil could be hinting at him taking part in Hawkeye's action for the first time since he was left covered in blood and the bitter taste of defeat by Matt Murdock. That said, rumors suggest this version of Kingpin and other characters who are migrating from Netflix's canceled Marvel shows will be different from the ones fans remember.

This trailer looks just as Hawkeye as one could expect following these few weeks, yet two things immediately stand out. The first is that the episode is dubbed a “season finale” not a series finale, meaning there could be more Hawkeye in store in the near future. The second one is the mysterious figure that appears at the 0:16 mark, whose costume and baton-like weapon resemble that of a certain Kingpin enemy and Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo, Charlie Cox's Daredevil.

It’s safe to say Spider-Man: No Way Home has fulfilled fans’ expectations, nevertheless, Cox's brief showing as Matt Murdock has officially made him part of the MCU, so a perfectly timed double cameo wouldn’t be that out of place. Those with a keen eye might point out that this character’s baton doesn’t look like the one Cox used in Daredevil, but that alone is not enough to deconfirm him as a guest in Hawkeye since it’s impossible to tell who this could be.

This small detail has gone largely unnoticed, however, a small appearance from Daredevil in Hawkeye's Rockefeller center showdown makes perfect sense to introduce the character before his likely first couple of homes in the MCU, Echo and She-Hulk. Without as much fanfare as the rest of Disney Plus' shows, Hawkeye might just end up giving fans the best holiday present in the form of some pretty epic moments in its finale.

Hawkeye episodes 1-5 are now available on Disney Plus.
