Hawkeye is set in New York City and Marvel Studios used the location to full effect by including a fictional Broadway play titled Rogers: The Musical. Now, Marvel has officially released the full version of the song "Save the City" for fans.

Set during the holiday season, Hawkeye opens with Clint Barton sending some overdue quality time with his children in the Big Apple. Of course, his Christmas vacation is interrupted by a series of events that find Kate Bishop donning and being spotted in the Ronin outfit, which Barton wore during his time as a ruthless vigilante after his family was wiped away from existence by Thanos and before they were brought back along with everyone else in Avengers: Endgame.

Before Clint's yuletide excursion was ruined, however, he managed to bring his three kids to see Rogers: The Musical, a stage play that recounts the life of Chris Evans' Captain America and his adventures with the Avengers. The Bartons are shown watching a scene from the play that recounts the infamous Battle of New York, although this depiction is set to the aforementioned "Save the City" song, complete with choreographed dances and actors in stage-worthy Avengers costumes. Included in the lyrics of the song is Captain America's iconic line, "I could do this all day!" Of course, the song was interrupted by dialogue between the Bartons and Clint's bathroom break, but now Marvel has released the full version so fans can hear the work of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman in its entirety.

Fans may appreciate the song, but Clint Barton certainly wasn't as enthusiastic. Having been there during the Battle of New York and being reminded of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Barton left the theater to get some air. Fortunately, his kids recognized that Clint wasn't into the play and everyone agreed to leave halfway through. The entire scene was not only a fun way to honor Broadway, but it also served to remind fans that Barton is still grieving over the death of Natasha Romanoff, who was Barton's best friend and sacrificed herself in order for him to acquire the Soul Stone in Endgame. This will likely be a key plot point in Hawkeye, as Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova is set to appear on the show, and she was last seen in the post-credits scene of Black Widow being instructed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to hunt down Barton.

In fact, with just four episodes left, Hawkeye is set to feature several characters in a relatively short amount of time. Among those characters is Alaqua Cox's Echo, the deaf leader of the Tracksuit Mafia who has the ability to perfectly copy the movements of her opponents.

Of course, given Echo's history in the comics, fans are hoping Hawkeye is building towards the MCU debut of Vincent D’Onofrio's Kingpin, who originally appeared in the now presumed to be non-canon Daredevil series on Netflix. With Hawkeye featuring so much talk about New York's criminal underworld and wealthy people who have powerful but unnamed allies, hopes for Kingpin's return are at an all-time high.

Hawkeye episodes 1-2 are now available on Disney Plus.
