This article contains spoilers for Hawkeye Season 1, Episode 2

Marvel Studios' Hawkeye series for Disney Plus is the newest content out of the MCU, and while the show takes a more grounded, street-level approach to its story that so far tackles themes of grief and past traumas (particularly with Clint Barton), the writers still know how to have fun with the characters. A new featurette from Marvel reveals a behind-the-scenes look at the epic LARP battle sequence Clint is thrown into.

After Clint's Ronin suit is stolen by Grill to impress his group of LARPers in episode two of Hawkeye, Clint is hilariously thrown into an epic sequence where he has to don his role playing armor and go through all of this trouble to get his suit back. The new footage from Marvel showcases many of the costumes, weaponry, and extras involved in one exciting, yet hilarious, role-playing battle from Hawkeye episode 2.

The featurette presents Adelle Drahos, who plays the character Missy, breaking down the scene and the different teams involved (Vikings vs samurai). Grill actor Clayton English shares his enthusiasm for the scene and how taking such an over-the-top and funny scenario has led to one epic battle scene. At the end of the featurette, Hawkeye lead star Jeremy Renner noted the humor of putting Clint through this scenario. "Having a very grounded character like Hawkeye among LARPers is a very funny scene," Renner said.

While it may seem bizarre when reading about it, placing a grounded and more serious character like Clint in such an over-the-top sequence with a bunch of LARPers creates such a hilarious and memorable scene. But that's what makes this series so great and the reason it is getting plenty of praise from critics. Instead of focusing on the larger cosmic, multiversal events that are occurring in other storylines, Hawkeye is really honing in on its two leads' chemistry or dynamic with one another, while also delving deeper into characters like Clint Barton with greater depth that wasn't explored in previous MCU content.

The new series is looking to keep the success rolling, as it is coming off of a fantastic third episode that showcases Clint Barton and Kate Bishop along with numerous new faces in one of the MCU's most thrilling and impressive action sequences to date. With only three episodes left, fans can expect one epic finale.

Hawkeye also stars Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Kate's mother, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Barton's old mentor, Fra Free as the mercenary Kazi, Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf character who can perfectly copy others' movements (a spin-off series about her character is already in development), Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, Maya's father, and other MCU newcomer Florence Pugh as Yelena (who made her debut in Black Widow and will likely appear in the last episode). Amber Templemore-Finlayson & Katie Ellwood (Bert & Bertie) and Rhys Thomas serve as directors.

Hawkeye is now available to stream on Disney Plus.
