Fans got a good look at early concept designs for the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of (MCU) Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner). The concept art comes as Hawkeye is streaming on Disney Plus and is bringing the spotlight on to Marvel's famous archer.

These Hawkeye concept designs, which were made for The Avengers, are much closer to the Ulitmate Marvel comic book storyline look, which is saying something because Jeremy Renner's current take was already taking inspiration from the Ultimate era instead of the classic comic books. While fans may like the costume that he has in the movies due to it's practicality, the look that fans really like is the Ronin outfit that the character wore in Avengers: Endgame.

The artwork comes from Ryan Meinerding, who is a character designer, creative director, and head of visual development at Marvel Studios. The unused Hawkeye costume designs feature all black and have a lot more militaric or combat necessities, along with a sleek agent-like style. The suit looks less like a costume than it does an outfit meant for fighting hordes of Chitauri. The Hawkeye costume that ended up being used in Avengers was less inspired by the Ultimate comics than the one seen it Meinerding's work, but it still had the same aesthetic: Sleeveless outfit with buckles, a quiver, and a bow. The design also had hints of purple in it, which was meant as a nod to his classic outfit's color scheme.

Meinerding's Instagram page has a more artwork for many other Marvel characters. These include illustrations for the Watcher, Ultimate Ultron (both from Marvel Studios What If...?) and Thanos, to name a few. All of the recent behind the scenes info is a welcome addition for many fans.

Expect to see more of Hawkeye as the show gears up to premiere its final episode on Disney Plus. Hawkeye has been getting very good reviews and it looks like a breath of fresh air for the seasoned hero, as Marvel has found something new to do for the veteran archer.

For those that want to see more of Renner's Hawkeye, be sure to check out the ongoing show on Disney plus. It introduces a young new hero in Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfield), who is also an archer just like Hawkeye.
